Shamaee Sniffs Out Coles' Bluff

On a board of 93108, there were 2,500 chips in the pot when Ali Shamaee checked, Serge Coles bet 1,600, and Shamaee called.

A 5 on the river brought around another check from Shamaee, then Coles put out a bet of 4,000. Shamaee seemed suspicious and after thinking for around 90 seconds, he tossed in a single chip to signify a call.

Coles showed A6 for just ace-high, and Shamaee flipped the winner with Q10 for a pair of tens.

Siebe Den Hartog raised from late position, Alexandru Brumaru three-bet to 1,100 from the button and Den Hartog called.

The flop came 69K and Den Hartog checked. Brumaru bet 800 and Den Hartog called. The turn was the J and Den Hartog checked again. Brumaru bet 2,700 and Den Hartog made the call.

Both players then checked to showdown on the A river. Den Hartog showed K10 for the nut flush and Brumaru showed the A. Den Hartog scooped the pot.

The river came the 3 and Konnikova check-folded to a bet of 2,000 from Caspi.

When the 4 completed the board on the river, Rabahie checked, and Boatman checked it back.

Rabahie tabled A9 for a flush, but was shown the higher flush of Boatman as he rolled JJ.

With around 8,000 chips already in the pot on a board of 9848, Istvan Pilhofer checked it over to Gheorghe Podovei, who bet 3,900. Pilhofer called.

A 2 on the river saw all the draws miss, and Pilhofer checked. Podovei wasted no time in checking back and was shown JJ by Pilhofer, which was good for the pot.

Get Ready For Day 1b of the €5,300 Main Event

Another exciting day begins at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona, held at Casino Barcelona, as we kick off Day 1b, for the final flight of the €5,300 Main Event.

Yesterday’s opening flight drew 697 players, with 223 of them making it through to Day 2. Joost Hollak from the Netherlands ended the day on top, amassing a huge 364,500 chips. Ram Sanati and Yevhenii Kuzmin were the only other players to finish with stacks exceeding 300,000.

Cards will be in the air at noon local time with 60-minute levels starting at 100/100 and a 100 big blind ante. Players will begin with a starting stack of 30,000 chips and aim to build it over ten levels played today. A 20-minute break is scheduled after every two levels and a 75-minute dinner break at the end of level 6.

Players have a total of two entries which they can use across either of the opening flights or buy in until the start of Day 2 on September 3.
