Moraru's Hopes Crushed by Brutal Runout

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Catalin Moraru
Catalin Moraru

Catalin Moraru had committed his stack of around ten big blinds to the pot and was put at risk by Gabriel Cunha.

Moraru whiffed the 4A7 flop and was up on his feet, seemingly without hope of spiking a nine. However, when the 9 fell on the turn he stopped in his tracks as he improved to a set and took the lead. Just as Moraru's hopes had been lifted, they were soon shattered to pieces as the J river gave his opponent a bigger set, which left the Romanian player on the sidelines.

Kiriakus Makes a "Genius" Call to Bust Cai

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Jack Kiriakus

In a blind versus blind battle and around 350,000 in the pot on a board of 3885, Jack Kiriakus bet 225,000 from the small blind. Haoran Cai used three time banks before he moved all in for 720,000.

Kiriakus also took his time until eventually calling to put Cai at risk. Cai showed A10 for a flush draw, while Kiriakus was ahead with 103 for two pair. Kiriakus stood up and clasped his hands in prayer waiting for the river, which came the 2 to earn him the pot and the bustout.

"Genius. One hundred percent flush draw," he said as let out a big fist pump.

At the same time at another table, Fernando Valverde was all in for around 250,000 from the small blind and up against Panagiotis Mavritsakis on the button.
