Life Outside Poker w/ Connor Richards is a new podcast for PokerNews that focuses on poker players with successful careers and lives outside of poker.
For the third episode, Connor spoke with high-stakes poker player, politician and entrepreneur Antanas "Tony G" Guoga. In the interview, Tony G spoke about growing up in Lithuania, founding PokerNews in the early 2000s, getting into European politics later in life and his favorite televised poker moments.
He also opened up about clashing with players like Phil Hellmuth in televised games and even issued a heads-up challenge to the Poker Brat. Will Hellmuth take him on, or is he, like Tony G said, "afraid to ever play me again?"
Jonathan Guedes, seated in the cutoff, raised to 250,000 with K♥10♦ and was called by Niclas Thumm in the small blind holding A♥K♣. Boris Angelov, in the big blind, then three-bet to 1,000,000 with A♦8♣, prompting Guedes to fold.
Thumm used one of his time bank cards to consider his move and then went all-in. Angelov took some time to reconsider, checked his cards again, but ultimately folded. Thumm nearly doubled up without revealing his cards or seeing a board.
Philipp Wenzelburger moved all in for 1,045,000 in early position and Rania Nasreddine called in middle position.
Philipp Wenzelburger: 10♦8♦
Rania Nasreddine: Q♠Q♦
Nasreddine had picked up queens to leave Wenzelburger at risk as the flop came 8♠5♦2♠, giving Wenzelburger some hope with a pair. The 5♣ turn took away some of his outs, while the 6♣ river sealed his elimination in ninth place.
The affable German laundry owner went around the table wishing his tablemates good luck. "What about me?" Nasreddine said before he got to her as the two exchanged a big hug.
Jonathan Pastore raised to 200,000 under the gun before Boris Angelov three-bet to 540,000 in the hijack holding A♥K♥. Pastore then four-bet to 900,000.
Angelov came back with a five-bet to 1,300,000 and Pastore folded A♦Q♠.
Derk van Luijk opened to 225,000 in early position and Boris Angelov defended 9♠2♠.
The flop came 9♥8♠7♠ to give Angelov top pair and a flush draw. Van Luijk continued for 230,000 and Angelov called.
The J♠ turn completed Angelov's flush and he checked over to Van Luijk, who this time checked back. The river was the A♦ and Angelov led out for 900,000.
