Negrea Shows the Bluff

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Stefan Dimitrov opened to 18,000 from middle position and called when Teodor Negrea three-bet to 52,000 from the button.

Dimitrov check-called for 48,000 on the Q52 flop before the 4 turn checked through to the A river. Dimitrov checked for a third time and then folded after Negrea bet 70,000.

Negrea let out a huge sigh of relief and tabled his K8. "That's a nice one," his tabled neighbor commented.

Mettoudi Takes Down a Big One as Bubble Approaches

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Thajhan Yogendran opened 17,000 in early position, and both Yaroslav Shkliar and Mike Mettoudi made the call.

The 962 flop hit the felt, and Mettoudi check-called a bet of 30,000 from Shkliar, while Yogendran mucked.

The 6 landed on the turn, and Mettoudi checked once more before facing a bet of 82,000. Mettoudi thought about it for a few moments and made the call.

When the K completed the board, Mettoudi checked for the final time, and Shkliar tanked for about two minutes before opting to check back. Mettoudi tabled J9, for top pair on the flop and Shkliar mucked his hand.

Unusual Situation Close to Bubble as Toyras Left With Single Chip

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

An interesting situation developed close to the bubble when Mirand Murseli raised preflop and Miika Toyras moved most of his chips into the middle for 82,000, leaving a single 5,000 chip behind.

Murseli made the call, but thought his opponent had moved all-in and so revealed his hand, AK prematurely.

Floor was called and ruled that the betting action stands and that the hand would continue. The flop came 5KJ to give Murseli a face-up top pair. Murseli bet for Toyras' last chip, sending Toyras deep into the tank.

"I have some outs," said Toyras as he deliberated how next to act.

"Fold! Fold, my friend!", said Murseli.

Eventually, time was called and Toyras was given 30-seconds to act. He timed out and his hand was folded, giving Murseli the pot. Toyras was left with less than one big blind, but with another chance to survive the bubble.

Oberhauser Eliminated Before the Money

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Valentin Oberhauser jammed a shorter stack and was called by Enis Rouissi from two seats over in the second hand on the money bubble.

Valentin Oberhauser: AK
Enis Rouissi: JJ

The most classic of flips went to Rouissi on a board of 75344 and that reduced the field to the last 168 contenders.

Benny Glaser
Benny Glaser

Benny Glaser raised to 16,000 in early position, leaving just 1,000 behind. The action folded around to Taran Parmar in the small blind who made the call, followed by Antony Lellouche in the big blind.

The Q55 flop was checked through to see the 8 turn. Parmar checked once more, but Lellouche fired 17,000. Glaser called off his last 1,000 chip, and Parmar mucked his hand.

Benny Glaser: AK
Antony Lellouche: K8

Lellouche turned his eight, and Glaser couldn't catch an ace as the 7 rolled off on the river, eliminating him only a couple of spots from the money.

Break on the Money Bubble

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

With one more elimination at the end of the level, the field has been reduced to 167 players in contention and they completed their third hand without any open seat. This brought an end to Level 18 and the tournament went on a 15-minute break on the stone-cold money bubble.

Mazza, Mitsui, and Talbot Eliminated on the Bubble

Level 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Parker Talbot
Parker Talbot

Sylvain Mazza shoved 35,000 in early position and only Abderrashman Habhab called in the hijack.

Sylvain Mazza: AK
Abderrashman Habhab: QQ

It was the classic race but Mazza couldn't connect as the board ran out J10943, eliminating him on the stone bubble.

One table over, Yota Mitsui had jammed the button for the last 145,000 and he was called by Fabian Bartuschk in the big blind.

Yota Mitsui: A10
Fabian Bartuschk: AK

The kicker played on the 972AQ runout for Mitsui to also bust.

That left another two all-in and call to run and one of them included PokerStars ambassador Parker Talbot, who was involved in a preflop raising war in which he was the player at risk for around 215,000 against Marcelo Manfredini.

Parker Talbot: QQ
Marcelo Manfredini: AA

There was no escape for Talbot on the J63KA runout as Manfredini further improved to a set of aces. Since players need to physically bag up chips upon completion of their Day 1, Talbot also missed out on the min-cash as well.

Bitton Survives

Level 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Two players saw a flop of A106 creating a pot of about 50,000. Bart Lybaert checked and Micha Bitton jammed for 78,000, which Lybaert called.

Micha Bitton: AJ
Bart Lybaert: A9

Both players flopped top pair, but Bitton had the lead with the jack kicker. The 7 turn, and Q river changed nothing as Bitton survived on the bubble.
