Saracoglu Doubles After El Asmar's Gamble Doesn't Pay Off

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

There were already around 20,000 chips in the pot on a 4103Q board when Atilla Saracoglu had fired 16,400, leaving himself just 500 behind. Hady El Asmar took his time before he shoved, and Saracoglu called off his last 500.

Atilla Saracoglu: KK All in
Hady El Asmar: 77

El Asmar was behind with his pocket sevens and looking to hit the jackpot by improving to a set. However, the jackpot bells didn't ring as the 6 fell on the river, which kept Saracoglu's pocket kings in the lead.

Daniel Rezaei
Daniel Rezaei

Daniel Rezaei called from the small blind and Ritvars Cekalins took his option and raised to 1,700 from the big blind. Rezaei three-bet to 5,500 and, undeterred, Cekalins four-bet to 11,200. Rezaei called.

Rezaei check-called a 5,500 bet from Cekalins on the 75J flop and checked again on the 6 turn. Cekalins bet enough to put Rezaei all in for his last 24,000 and Rezaei counted out his stack before placing it into the middle.

Daniel Rezaei: AJAll in
Ritvars Cekalins: KK

Rezaei had flopped top pair, top kicker, but was in trouble against Cekalins' cowboys.

The 4 river failed to improve Rezaei and he wished his tablemates good luck as he exited the tournament area.

Johnson Misclicks

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

With 4,000 chips in the middle on a 7JK flop, Keith Johnson had checked from the hijack and Andreas Berggren fired 1,600 from the button. Johnson then put 2,600, which was supposed to be a call, but had to be deemed a min-raise as it was over half the value of the bet he was facing. Berggren then called the 3,200.

An A on the turn went check-check and the K river saw Johnson check again, then Berggren fired 6,200. Johnson was thinking for a while, but eventually settled on a fold, and Berggren was pushed the pot.

Johnson was left with just 500 chips at the end of Day 1a after losing a pot in the last hand of the day. However, he was allowed to forfeit that stack and bought in again on Day 1b.

Larsen Bluffs Grafton on River

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante
Birger Larsen
Birger Larsen

Sam Grafton kicked off the action with a raise to 1,100 from the hijack and Birger Larsen called in the cutoff.

The flop came 8Q3 and Grafton made a continuation bet of 1,100, which Larsen called. Grafton fired again on the 5 turn, betting 3,500. Larsen called again to take the hand to the river.

On the 5 river, Grafton checked to Larsen, who placed out a bet of 8,500. Grafton thought for a moment, peeled his cards, scratched his face, checked his cards again, played with his chips, looked once more at his cards, then shrugged and folded, showing the 8.

"Nice hand," said Grafton. But Larsen commented that he didn't have much. Players prodded at Larsen to show one card in return, so he flipped over the A, then decided to show both and revealed the 10 to show that he was bluffing.
