Game On

The players have returned from break and the cards are in the air. We'll play for one more hour before we break for the evening.

Irish Table of Death Gets Worse!

Roy Brindley
Roy Brindley
All four original Irishmen are still seated together at the same table, and now George McKeever has taken a seat to make five.

Liam Flood has made a great recovery to 23,000 and I found him in a bouyant mood at the break. The tables have turned and now Patrick Bruel is the short stack at the table, having earlier been responsible for taking most of Liam's chips.

Roy Brindley is bemoaning the fact that he got aces for the first time in four tournaments and only got the blinds, whilst Liam doubled up when he got them!

15-Minute Break

The players are now on a 15-minute break. They'll play one more level once they return and then we're done for the evening.

There are currently 83 players remaining on 10 tables and the average chip stack is 23,900.

Annette Obrestad Doubles Up

After a relatively uneventful first half of the day for 'Annette_15,' a few moments ago she managed to crack aces with 6-7 and double up.

Action folded around to the player on the button who limped in with aces; the small blind completed the bet and and Annette checked her option in the big blind. The flop came 6-7-J, with two spades and both blinds checked to the button, who led out for 700. The small blind then folded and Annette kicked it up to 3,000. The button player opted to reraise enough to put Annette all in and she made the call with bottom two pair. A red seven fell on the turn, making a full house for Obrestad, leaving her opponent drawing to one of the two remaining aces in the deck, which never came.

After the hand, Annette stacked up 18,850 new chips.

Chuc Hoang Like Bluffing!

French player Chuc Hoang check-raised all in on a {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop and his opponent agonized over a tough decision. Eventually he folded with great disgust after Chuc said, "I have nothing, call!" Chuc took great delight in showing his {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}, which caused his opponent to make a sound like a dying cat whilst shaking his head!

Liam Flood Doubles Up

For much of the day, Irish bookmaker and professional poker player Liam Flood has sported a short stack, fighting for chips every step of the way. A few minutes ago, he got his hands on a bunch, formerly owned by the Spaniard Raul Mestre.

Long story short, Flood held aces against Mestre's queens and the pair raised back and forth preflop until Liam was all in. Mestre could only shake his head at the sight of Flood's hand, as he realized just what bad shape he was in. The board filled out {7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Flood took down the pot, doubling up to just under 20,000 in chips -- the biggest stack he's had all day.

In case you're still wondering about the Liam Flood dealer buttons . . . well, so are we. We asked Liam about them and he seemed perplexed with the question, offering this response: "I asked the manufacturer to make them and they did." Perhaps we'll check with a few more sources and see what comes up.

Three Pair is Good!

Four players see a flop of {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{J-Spades} and all check.

The turn is the {3-Clubs} and this time the button bets 2,500 into the 3,000 pot; only Julian Thew calls.

The river is the {3-Spades} and both players check. Julian shows {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for the win, which takes him back up to 12,000.
