Badziakouski Takes One from Boss

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

From under the gun, Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier raised to 1,600. Simon Boss from Switzerland called from the small blind, and Mikita Badziakouski from Belarus called from the big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}, and Boss led with a bet of 2,200. Badziakouski put in a raise to 6,600, and Mercier folded. Boss also folded, and Badziakouski won the pot.

PCA $25K High Roller Champ Busts

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Alexander Roumeliotis check-raised to put Jake Schindler, winner of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,500 High Roller, all in on the {J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} board. After a bit of tanking, Schindler made the call, but his {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for one pair was no good against Roumeliotis' two pair with the {J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

A Couple of Pots With Metaal

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

From one of our colleagues we heard a hand between Rossiter and Metaal. Jeff Rossiter opened the cutoff, and Metaal three bet to 4,200. Rossiter made it 9,500 and Metaal called in position. The {4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop made Rossiter bet 6,300, and Metaal called. The {J-Hearts} fell on the turn, and Rossiter check-folded to Metaal's 12,000 bet.

Govert Metaal told us with a big smile that he not much later limped in with aces under the gun. Mark Teltscher raised to 2,200, Jeff Rossiter called, and Giuseppe Pantaleo who just sat down made it 8,400. Metaal played dumb, and said he wanted to raise to 12,300, but was forced to make it 14,600. Teltscher and Rossiter folded, but Pantaleo shoved all in. Metaal made the call, and beat Pantaleo's nines.

Just now we saw a hand between Teltscher and Metaal. With {4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} on the table, the dealer thought Teltscher had checked, but he had said "I need to check", and eventually bet out 2,600. Metaal thought for a bit, and Teltscher said "One of my cards is a heart", "I also" answered Metaal. "And your other one? A king?" asked Metaal, but he got no reply and called anyway.

The {9-Hearts} fell on the turn and Teltscher checked. Metaal checked behind, and both had a blush on their face when they had to admit they didn't have a heart. {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for Teltscher, {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for Metaal.

Metaal, who's on his second bullet, plays around 90,000.

Brummelhuis Has an Angel on His Shoulder

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Michiel Brummelhuis got up from the table to tell us a somewhat bizarre hand he played against Ari Engel a little while ago.

Engel had opened from the cutoff and Michiel Brummelhuis in the big blind with {A-}{10-} had made the call.

Brummelhuis donk bet into Engel on {5-Diamonds}{6-}{8-Diamonds} with not much of anything, Engel called in position. The {10-Diamonds} hit the turn and with a turned top pair and top kicker, but no diamonds, Brummelhuis bet again. Engel again called.

The river came the {2-Diamonds}, and this is where things got really interesting. Brummelhuis checked, and Engel tossed in a 25,000 chip while announcing "Sixteen".

Brummelhuis was thinking about it, but now Carlos Chadha stepped in and said that "Sixteen" meant 1,600, and not 16,000. A loud discussion emerged, and the brush was called over and ruled it indeed was a 1,600 bet if just the word "Sixteen" had been announced while throwing the 25,000 chip in.

With just 1,600 asked of him, Brummelhuis made the call with his top pair on that scary board. Engel had {Q-}{9-} no diamonds for absolutely nothing, and the pot went to Brummelhuis.

Cody Doubles

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jake Cody
Jake Cody

On an {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} board, Spaniard Pablo Fernandez in the small blind checked to Jake Cody in the hijack. Cody shoved all in for 25,200, and Fernandez thought for a long time. He eventually called, but his {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} landed in the muck soon enough after Cody showed his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.
