Peters Left Out in the Cold

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

It was bit of a cruel exit for Tobias Peters, the short stacked Dutchman, who found a big hand in the big blind, but ran into a bigger one.

Matan Krakow was in early position and had a little more than 50,000. He looked as if he was stalling, thinking for a while before asking Peters how much he was playing. But then he shoved and the action was folded around to Peters in the big blind who took one look of his holding and called all in for around 45,000.

Krakow: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}
Peters: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The board ran {4-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{q-Clubs}{a-Spades} to seal the unfortunate fate or Peters.

Rodriguez Doubles Volkmann

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

On a board of {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts} it was Matthieu Rodriguez in the big blind who was tanking. His neighbor Bruno Volkmann in the small blind had shoved all in for 81,500 and Rodriguez had a real decision.

After a little while Rodriguez made the call. Volkmann showed {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for a full house, Rodriguez mucked his {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}.

Panka Not Happy After Big Fold

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The title is purely based on the sour face former PCA champion Dominik Panka made after he saw both of his opponent turn over the same hand in a three-way all in.

When we picked up the action it was on Panka who faced a shove from the player in the hijack, Jean-Christopher St-Pierre, for about 150,000 chips. Panka had 28,000 invested from the small blind, as did Diego Zeiter from the under-the-gun position.

After Panka finally folded Zeiter called immediately and the showdown went as following.

St-Pierre: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Zeiter: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and the pot was split while Panka was left behind shaking his head.

Watts Loses with Queens

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Steve Watts four-bet to 50,000 after plenty of action on his table and one seat over, Gaetano Raffaele moved all in for another 20,000 on top. Watts had to call off with pocket queens but the pocket kings of the Italian held up. Below are some further pre-bubble stack sizes.

Messina Busts Salter

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jack Salter
Jack Salter

George Bogdan Ana and Jack Salter have been eliminated. While the details of the former are unknown, the latter had been sent to the rail by Valentin Messina. Salter opened to 9,000 from early position and Messina three-bet to 25,000. The player in the big blind tank-folded and Salter got involved in a lively chat with table neighbor Griffin Benger during that time.

"You know, I don't care about the bubble," Salter added at some point. Once the player in the big blind folded, Salter shoved for just under 100,000 chips and Messina snap called. "Oh wow, kings again?" the Brit sighed and Messina had doubled up not long ago with said hand against Bjorn Wiesler.

Messina: {K-Clubs} {K-Spades}
Salter: {K-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {6-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} and that was it for the Brit.

Almost There

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Among the three players that busted just shy of the money was also PCA champion Kevin Schulz and two further players will leave the tournament area empty-handed, unless they are all in at the same table and get busted during the same hand in order to chop the min-cash.

Let the stalling begin.

Troyanovskiy Bluffs on the Bubble

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Action folded to Vladimir Troyanovskiy in the small blind and the Russian high roller completed. Damien Lhommeau in the big blind bumped up the action to 14,500 and Troyanovskiy made the call.

Troyanovskiy check called a bet of 11,000 on {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, only for both of them to check the {A-Spades} turn. The {3-Spades} fell on the river and Troyanovskiy bet out 17,500. Lhommeau folded and Troyanovskiy showed {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for king-high.

Boissenot Doubles

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The tournament was about to go into hand-for-hand mode but not all tables were completed with their last hand prior to this yet. Gregoire Boissenot just flat-called a raise and then faced the three-bet of Alexander Ivarsson before four-bet shoving his stack of 87,000 chips.

Ivarsson made the call with {9-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} and the Frenchman had {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. After a board of {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts}, Boissenot doubled up and hand-for-hand play will kick in immediately.

Aces on the Bubble Give Aido the Chip Lead

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Sergio Aido
Sergio Aido

We just witnessed a monster pot, and up until this point the biggest pot of the tournament, between Sergio Aido and Raphael Blouet.

It started with a series of folds as the action got all the way to Sergio Aido in the small blind. Aido called the big blind and Blouet raised it up to 12,500.

Aido opted to three-bet making it 34,000 and Blouet called. On the flop {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} popped up and Aido bet 32,000, Blouet called.

The turn was the {5-Spades} and Aido bet 70,000. This time Blouet went for the raise, making it 145,000. Aido went into the tank for several minutes before ultimately making the call with 116,500 chips left behind.

The river was the {5-Hearts} and Aido instantly checked.

"All in," Blouet calmly announced and Aido sighed as he leaned back in his chair.

Two minutes went by and all of a sudden, with the eyes of at least a dozen other players looking at him, he tossed in chips to make the call.

Blouet wanted to muck his cards right away, but since this was an all-in showdown they had to be shown. Blouet had {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Aido raked in a massive double up with {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

"Wow," was heard from the mouths of Dan Smith and Steve Watts who were also at this table, and Aido is now the new tournament chip leader as we are on the money bubble.
