Look Into My Eyes

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Clavio Anzalone bet 12,000 on the river of a board reading {2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Brian Altman was the man who had to make the decision and he was sat directly to his left. They both stared each other down, eyeball to eyeball, inches away. Altman finally looked away, but it was only to go for his chips and make the call.

Anzalone tabled {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Altman was good with his {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Bananas Everywhere

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Joining the action on the {6-Hearts} {4-Spades} {10-Hearts} {5-Spades} turn, Timothy Adams bet 6,700 into a pot of 20,000 and Jean Philippe Piquette moved all in with the far superior stack. Adams had about 25,000 chips left and eventually folded. "Bananas," Pierre Christensen said in the seat next to the Canadian and received the following remark back from Piquette:

"You don't wanna see my banana." We leave the rest open for interpretation.

Kravchenko Wriggles Fee From Busquet Trap Check

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

With an early position raise to 1,300 Olivier Busquet made the call. Alex Kravchenko was to Busquet’s left and raised to 4,575. The initial raiser called but Busquet stuck in the calling chips.

Two players saw the flop come {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and when Busquet checked Kravchenko moved all in for his last 10,000. BUsquet practically beat him into the pot and turned over his top set {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. Kravchenko had {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and was at risk of going out.

The turn card {k-Clubs} rode to the rescue for Kravchenko with the {a-Clubs} completing the board.

Nevanlinna is the Boss

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Just a few minutes ago Simon Boss was spotted at the registration desk and entered the tournament area. Walking past by his table, he five-bet shoved into Jussi Nevanlinna and the Finn called off with {Q-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}. Boss had {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} and Nevanlinna most definitely didn't like the window card {J-Clubs}, but that was followed by {10-Spades} {K-Clubs} for a straight.

Neither the {7-Clubs} turn nor the {8-Spades} river changed anything and Nevanlinna doubled up.

Must be nice to Be Jelinek today

Petr Jelinek
Petr Jelinek

The details of who was sent to the rail escaped us, but Petr Jelinek confirmed to the Czech bloggers that he knocked out an opponent for 25,000 in chips with pocket aces versus pocket kings. This may have very well been Eoghan O'Dea, who was on the same table before.

Lodden Faces Down Vieira

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden

Johnny Lodden opened for 1,800 and if folded round to small blind Joao Vieira who likes to take his time making decisions. After some time he reached for chips and three-bet to 5,400. Lodden wanted to know how much he had behind and he showed him his stack of 10,000.

Lodden put out the call and they saw a flop of {2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Vieira continued for 2,400 and Lodden made the call. They both checked the turn card {6-Hearts} and on the river {9-Diamonds} a check from Vieira saw Lodden set him in. Vieira mucked.

On the next hand Nikolay Baryshnikov moved all in for just over 10,000 and it folded to Vieira who took a few minutes to make the call and turn over his {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Baryshnikov tabled {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Baryshnikov was left with a few chips and Vieira had a double up.
