T6 Poker qualifier Hugo Felix from Portugal is in Dortmund playing his first international poker tournament. After being down to 9,500 a few hours ago, he has now fought his way back up and is in better shape with 70,000.
“I was very happy to reach the money, and now when I have made it this far with a lot of luck and some skills, I will go for the final table,” says Felix.
Thomas Pettersson made it into the money with a very short stack and got a pretty nice chance to triple up when he got two callers on his all-in move with only 15,000 left. His found a very good flop, , giving him an open-ended straight draw. But the on the turn wasn't the best card in the deck, since both of the other players had an ace and they chopped the pot. Pettersson was eliminated in 35th place and received 9,500 euros.
In a crazy three-way all-in, Russell Carson had , Johannes Strassmann had , and Ramzi Jelassi had . The flop was , but the turn brought the , giving Carson the lead. Jelassi was disgusted, but would survive since he had 20,000 more than Carson. But none of that mattered, since the biggest stack at the table, Strassmann, found a two-outer on the river with the ; he scooped the pot and is now at a comfortable 275,000.
Diego Perez was the chip leader a few hours ago, then lost it, but is now back in pole position after eliminating two opponents in the same hand. One of his opponents had , the other opponent showed , but Perez was way ahead with his . The flop came , the turn was the and the river was the , giving Perez the nut flush to scoop a giant pot. He is now back as number one with 380,000.
Rarely have we seen a more unfortunate bubble boy in the history of poker. Stephan Wrenger raised preflop to 8,500 from UTG holding , and Brandon Schaefer called from the button with . The flop brought , Wrenger went all in for around 50,000 and Schaefer called, commenting that he put his opponent on a pair of kings or a pair of aces. Schaefer had to find a queen, and right away on turn came the . Wrenger was eliminated, leaving the table in disgust. As Wrenger was leaving the table, another player at the table told Schaefer that he had folded the , which means that Schaefer managed to find a one-outer to win the pot. Poor Wrenger.
Michael McDonald, also known as "Timex" online, won the biggest pot of the tournament as he eliminated Mats Iremark just before the bubble. With 45 players left in the tournament, and 40 prizes, Timex raised preflop with , and Mats Iremark reraised to 28,000 holding . Timex thought for a while before announcing: "All in." Iremark called without delay, well aware of Timex' aggressive style, and it was a coin flip. The board came and McDonald scooped the 310,000 pot with trip queens to increase his stack to 345,000. He is now the new chip leader and Iremark has left the building.
