Here Comes Cody!

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Jake Cody
Jake Cody

We wonder why Jake Cody has a massive smile on his face? It might have something to do with him scooping a big pot and eliminating two dangerous opponents. All without ten-four as well!

Tom Marchese was short and open shoved with ten-nine. Team PokerStars Pro Leo Ferandez got tricky ans just flat called with pocket kings. Team mate Cody looked down at ace-king and put in a raise. It was then that Fernandez made an aggressive all in push.

Cody called and had to wait until the turn to bink his three-outer and take out both players.

Cal vs. Chewy

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Calvin Anderson
Calvin Anderson

Calvin Anderson, who has over $4.1 million in online tournament earnings, checked on a flop of {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Senh Ung checked as well, and Andrew Lichtenberger, who has over $1.6 million in online tournament earnings and nearly $3 million in live tournament earnings, tossed out 7,500.

Anderson check-raised to 20,800, only Lichtenberger called, and the turn brought the {q-Spades}. Anderson tanked for a bit, then led out for 28,300. Lichtenberger called.

A repeat deuce - the {2-Diamonds} - completed the board, and Anderson fired another bullet worth 48,500. Lichtenberger tanked for no longer than two minutes before a player at the table called the clock.

Luke Schwartz scrunched his face, and when the floor arrived, he told him, "He's not taking that long, really."

Still, the tournament director gave Lichtenberger one minute to act upon his hand. Lichtenberger had already cut out enough chips to make the call, and with only five seconds left on the countdown, he grabbed them.

Lichtenberger didn't commit them however, and the clock expired. He mucked his hand, and the pot was shipped to Anderson.

Pagano's Tournament End

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano has made quite a few EPT final tables but he will not add another here in Monte Carlo this year. Pagano was all in preflop with {5-Spades}{6-Spades} for his last chips against Yury Gulyy's {A-}{J-} and the board brought no help for the number 1 on the EPT All-Time Leaderboard.

O'Dwyer Over 400K

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

El Amir Ziad Chehab limped in from under the gun, Giuseppe Sammartino raised to 6,200 on his direct left, and Javier Etayo, Randy Lew, Steve O'Dwyer and Chehab all called.

The flop fell {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, the action checked to Sammartino, and the Italian tossed out 16,000. The action folded back to O'Dwyer, who check-raised to 48,000, Chehab folded, and Sammartino tanked for a bit before folding as well.

Victor Ramdin urged O'Dwyer to show a bluff, but O'Dwyer slid his cards into the much facedown.

A New Champion Will Be Crowned

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Mohsin Charania has just been eliminated by John Juanda. Last year, Charania won the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final for €1,350,000 after beating a 665-player field. This year, Charania wasn't able to repeat.

Charania was all in from the button for 29,500 and up against Juanda who was seated in the small blind.

Juanda: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Charania: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and Juanda picked up the pot.

Juanda has had his share of EPT success in the past, but a victory is still missing from his résumé. His best finish on the tour was back in 2010 where Juanda finished second in EPT London when he lost heads up against David Vamplew.

Regular Jo's

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Joe Mouawad was all in and at risk preflop for around 60,000 holding {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. Jovan Jojic had him at risk with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}, and Mouawad held as the board rolled out {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}, doubling to 120,000.

Jojic dropped to 20,000.
