GUKPT Coventry

Welcome back to PokerNews for continued coverage of the GUKPT Coventry Main Event.

A field of just over 100 players are returning for Day 2, with late registration still open until five minutes before cards get in the air. Once they do at 12 p.m. local time, players will have ten 60-minute levels to ensure they're in with a chance of the big prizes on Day 3 tomorrow.

Payouts are yet to be confirmed, but we will bring you all the details as soon as they have been released.

Two anonymous chip leaders head the field after the opening flights, but all eyes will be on Grosvenor Poker Team Pro Richard Trigg who heads into Day 2 fourth in chips behind Rodrigo Hernandez.

Other notables to keep an eye out for include defending GUKPT Coventry Champion Steve Jelinek, GUKPT London champion Timothy Chung, WSOP bracelet winners Richard Ashby and Carl Shaw as well as Bhavin Khatri, Joe Hindry, and Renee Xie.

Terry Jordon

The flop was {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Steve Jelinek checked. Shaun Walsh bet 3,000 and Terry Jordon called.

Jelinek check-raised all in, covering both opponents. Walsh folded and Jordon thought before slamming his stack in to make the call for his last 30,000.

Terry Jordon: {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Steve Jelinek: {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

It was the battle of the draws, with Jordon's straight draw up against Jelinek's flush draw. Jordon got to his feet and left the tournament area after the {7-Clubs} turn left him drawing dead, with the {4-Clubs} completing the board.

Stephen Kehoe is the new chip leader with a stack of over 650,000 chips. He told us that in one of the first hands after the dinner break, and with four players including the small blind sitting out, Radu Danut raised to 5,000 on the button.

Kehoe held {a-}{a-} in the big blind and three-bet to 30,000. According to Kehoe, Danut then four-bet ripped for over 250,000 chips with {a-}{9-} off-suit and Kehoe called.
