Day 1a of the GUKPT London £1,250 Main Event at the Victoria Casino, London has come to close with Renee Xie sitting a top of the chip counts.
In total, there were 185 entries with just 49 players making it through to Day 2, which kicks off on Saturday, February 5.

The field was littered with notable names and famous faces, none more than two-time EPT Main Event champion Victoria Coren-Mitchell. She was unable to replicate previous feats on the felt and fell short of making the next stage.
Grosvenor Poker Pros Katie Swift, Richard Trigg and Jamie Nixon were also big names on the GUKPT to fall at the first hurdle. Triple Crown winner Niall Farrell and PokerStars ambassador Sam Grafton also hit the rail on Day 1a.
Players such as Jack Hardcastle, WSOP bracelet winner Barny Boatman and Nick Marchington faired a little better and have all booked their seat for Day 2.

With the board reading and around 25,000 in the pot, Gary Miller put shorter stack Jesse Wigan all-in for his tournament life.

While the Main Event has been underway, the final day of the GUKPT High Roller was also playing out to it's conclusion. Terence Jordan Jnr beat Chris Da Silva in heads-up play after both players flopped top pair but Jordan Jnr had the better kicker.
As the winner, he walks away with the lion's share of the prize pool, boosting his bankroll by £69,000 while Da Silva cashed for £59,000.

Lewis Spencer opened the action from middle position to 2,500 with Yann Del Rey and Rehman Kassam calling from the blinds.
Action checked through on the flop to the turn. Kassam bet 3,000 and only Del Rey called. Both players checked back the river much to the frustration of Kassam as he had for the nut flush.
Cristinel Costin has re-entered the main event and takes up Eamonn Dyer's seat who was a recent elimination despite being a big stack for most of the day.
