"Deuce-Seven, Baby"

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

On a completed board of {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Spades}, Shawn Roberts bet about 8,500 into a pot of around 14,000 from early position. Larry Ormson was thinking it over from the button and splashed in some calling chips.

Roberts showed {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Ormson tabled his {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

"Deuce-seven, baby," he said. "Let's roll."

Raymer Cooked Before First Break

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante
Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

Greg Raymer's seat was empty and we inquired as to what happened to the former WSOP champion.

According to the players at the table, Raymer limped in with {j-}{j-} and then back-raised when someone put in a raise. His opponent peeled and then Raymer got it in after a flop of all low cards. Unfortunately for him, he was smashed from the start by {q-}{q-} and hit the rail after failing to find a third jack.

Players are now on break for 15 minutes.

Alsup's Ace No Good

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

Rich Alsup was in early position and bet 2,500 on {7-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Everett Lawrence flicked in a T5,000 chip and announced a raise a couple of seats over. Alsup called and they both checked the {7-Clubs} river with Lawrence tabling {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for aces and tens. Alsup also had an {a-} but it was no good.

Vodovoz Trying to Add HPT Title

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Elik Vodovoz
Elik Vodovoz

One player in the field here in the early going: Elik Vodovoz.

If you don't recognize the name, that's because Vodovoz really only has one big cash to his credit but it was a very large one. The Chicago-area native took down WSOPC Hammond Main Event here just a few months back for just under $295,000. His previous biggest cash was around $13,000.

The retired dentist, who typically grinds much smaller buy-ins, won a satellite into the Circuit Main and got through a field of 1,050 to bink his ring win. He'll now try to bring home an HPT title to go with his Circuit ring.
