Trips on the River for Ortiz

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

A player in early position opened to 700, a middle-position player called, and Jake Ortiz defended the big blind.

Action checked through on a suited flop of {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. None of the three players bet the {q-Diamonds} turn.

Ortiz fired 2,200 on the {k-Clubs} river, and only the early-position player called. Ortiz rolled over a winner in the form of {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for rivered trips.

After a limp from a player in middle position, Austin Schaal raised to 800 on the button. Both the blinds called, and the middle-position player folded.

All three checked the {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop, and the dealer put out the {k-Hearts} on the turn.

Action checked to Schaal, who fired 2,000. The players in the blinds swiftly mucked.

Salazar's Quest For POY Gets a Bump in the Right Direction

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

Eric Salazar, who currently sits in second place in the HPT Season XV POY race behind Nick Pupillo, raised to 800 from under the gun, and was called by four players, including Stephen Martines in the cutoff.

Action checked through the {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{k-Spades} flop, and the small blind led out for 1,200 on the {a-Spades} turn. The big blind folded, and Salazar raised to 4,100. Action folded back to the small blind, who didn't take long to toss his hand in the muck.

Martines Plucks Berry

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

A player raised to 800 from early position, and was called by three players, before Will Berry three-bet to 4,500 in the big blind. Only Stephen Martines called from the hijack.

Berry bet 7,500 on the {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop, and Martines raised to 20,000. Berry jammed for a few thousand more, and Martines called.

Will Berry: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Stephen Martines: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

"Nice hand. I didn't believe you preflop!" Martines told Berry.

The {a-Clubs} turn propelled Martines into the lead, and Berry couldn't catch back up after the {6-Spades} hit the river, sending the rest of Berry's stack over to Martines.

Ioakmides Fires the River on Coordinated Board

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

Andreas Ioakmides limped in under the gun, as did two players in middle position. Action folded to the big blind, who checked.

They went four ways to a flop of {q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, and action checked through.

The big blind led out for 600 on the {2-Diamonds} turn, and Ioakmides and one player in middle position called.

When the {10-Diamonds} river rolled off, the big blind checked. Ioakmides fired 2,000, and both remaining players folded.

Chopping Pots in the Early Going

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The player under the gun limped in, as did Andreas Ioakmides in the cutoff. Action folded to the big blind, who checked his option.

The {6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop saw a bet of 700 from the big blind. Both the under-the-gun player and Ioakmides called.

When the big blind fired again to the tune of 800 on the {a-Hearts} turn, the player under the gun folded, and Ioakmides called.

The big blind bet 2,000 on the {4-Clubs} river, and Ioakmides tossed in the call. The big blind flipped over {9-Clubs}{8-Spades} and chopped it up with Ioakmides' {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.
