Tjaden Takes Three-Bet Pot

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Austin Tjaden
Austin Tjaden

With the table having been seated just a few minutes prior, Austin Tjaden opened to 800 from early position. Action folded around to Charlie Dawson in the hijack, who elected to three-bet to 2,000. Only Tjaden called.

Tjaden check-called a downbet of 1,500 on the {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop.

Neither played fired the {8-Hearts} turn, putting three of a kind on the board. The {a-Hearts} river completed a backdoor flush draw, and Tjaden took a moment before betting 3,200. Dawson quickly mucked.

Nick Pupillo in previous action

Nick Pupillo has re-entered the HPT Season XV $2,500 Championship Event, looking to use his last bullet to earn a few more points to lock up his Player of the Year crown, and his second bullet in today's flight has started out much stronger than his first, as he already sits with nearly double the starting stack.

We'll continue to track Pupillo all day long, as the two remaining opponents that could potentially catch him, Eric Salazar and Nick Davidson, have already bagged up chips for Day 2.

Smith Cracks Rockets

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante
Bradley Smith
Bradley Smith

Brad Smith had his last 24,500 in chips in from under the gun on a {k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} board, and his lone opponent next to act called.

Brad Smith: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

"Wow!" Smith's opponent said upon seeing that his aces were in poor shape against the turned set of Smith. No ace fell on the {9-Diamonds} river, and Smith doubled up.

Dalpra Checks Back Two Pair

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

With about 3,000 in the middle on {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts}, big blind Brett Reichard checked to Anthony Dalpra in early position, who put out a bet of 1,200.

Reichard called, also check-calling 3,300 on the {2-Clubs} turn.

The {k-Spades} river completed the front-door flush draw, and both players quickly checked.

Dalpra showed {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a rivered two pair, defying the odds to best Reichard's {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

Stephen Nussrallah\
Stephen Nussrallah\

Stephen Nussrallah bet 4,500 from the small blind on a {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} flop, and Maurice Hawkins called in the hijack. Jorden Helstern in the cutoff looked over the 8,000 that was in the pot before Nussrallah's bet, then folded.

Both remaining players checked down the {7-Diamonds} turn and {q-Diamonds} river, and Nussrallah tabled {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Hawkins mucked.

Blair Hinkle just recently took a seat at this table, adding even more star power to an already stacked table.

Shorty Scores Much-Needed Triple

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

Cathy Stahr open-shoved her remaining two chips totaling 1,100—less than four big blinds—from middle position. Only the cutoff and the big blind called.

The two live players checked all the way to showdown on a board of {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

Stahr: {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Cutoff: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Big Blind: {2-Clubs}{3-Spades}

The turned second nut flush was plenty good for Stahr to score the triple and stay alive.

The under-the-gun player check-called a bet of 6,500 from Fine on the {k-Hearts} turn, and both players checked the {2-Diamonds} river. Fine tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}, and his opponent showed {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} before mucking.
