Hohner's Favorite Hand Nets a Double

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Neil Patel raised to 15,000 from early position, then called a three-bet shove for 30,000 from Ryan Hohner in the small blind.

"I've got my favorite hand," Hohner said.

Ryan Hohner: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Neil Patel: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Hohner's favorite hand was good for a double after the {6-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Diamonds} board left Patel dead by the turn.

"You guys are in trouble...each and every one of you!" Hohner said with a grin as he stacked up his chips.

Chip Leader Nears A Milly

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

There was 70,000 in the middle when John Michalak checked it over to Brent Barfield on a {j-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop. Barfield fired 56,000, and Michalak matched it.

The {3-Spades} turn paired the board and checked through. Neither player bet the {7-Spades} river either, and our chip leader tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for flopped top-top.

Gibbs First to Fall in the Money

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Nate Gibbs jammed for 26,000 from middle position, and Michael Rossitto called in the small blind.

Nate Gibbs: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Michael Rossitto: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

Rossitto found an ace on the {9-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop to increase his lead, but Gibbs picked up plenty of equity on the {k-Clubs} turn, giving him a gutshot and a flush draw. The {k-Hearts} river bricked off, and Gibbs headed to the payout desk.

At the same time at another table, Jered Gallagher went bust.

Chip Counts From Table 47 and 48

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Cory Warner Bubbles the 2019 HPT Season XV Championship

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

On the eleventh hand of hand-for-hand play, Cory Warner jammed for 26,500 from the cutoff, and Aaron Johnson called in the big blind.

Cory Warner: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Aaron Johnson: {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Warner hit a pair of queens on the {2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop to take a commanding lead, but Johnson found a glimmer of hope on the {7-Diamonds} turn to pop the bubble.

"Oh, I knew it was comin'!" Matt Higgins said when the {j-Clubs} fell on the river, giving Johnson two pair and leaving Warner as the bubble boy.

The remaining 36 players are in the money, guaranteed a minimum of $5,930, and are now on a one-hour dinner break.

Jennings' Jacks Get Cracked

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Greg Jennings raised to 15,000 from the button, and James Burns three-bet to 36,000 in the big blind. Jennings called, saying, "I know everybody's rooting for me!" as he did.

Action checked to the river of a {9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} board, where Burns bet 25,000 and Jennings called. Burns tabled {k-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for the nut flush, and Jennings showed {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} before mucking.

Three-Bet Pot Blind Vs. Blind on Bubble

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Mike Shin raised to 14,000 from the big blind, and Justin Coliny three-bet to 36,000, and Shin called.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{k-Spades}, and Shin quickly checked. Coliny fired 100,000, but Shin didn't pay to see a turn.

Lowery Out in 38th; Hand For Hand Process Begins

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Daniel Lowery
Daniel Lowery

Dan Lowery got his last 66,000 in chips in on a {3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Spades} flop from the big blind, and Stephen Song had him at risk from the cutoff.

Dan Lowery: {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Stephen Song: {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

Lowery's four was outkicked, and the {j-Diamonds} turn and {q-Spades} river left Lowery just shy of a cash.

The final thirty-seven players are now hand-for-hand, so stay tuned to see who the unfortunate bubble boy will be.

Martinez Dwindles, Raise-Folds

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Everybody folded to Nikolas Martinez, who opened the button to 12,000 off a short stack. The small blind folded, and Stephen Song peeked at his cards and pulled them closer to his stack before throwing in seven 25k chips to put Martinez all in.

Martinez tank-folded and said with a smile, "I think no matter what I do there, he's making that bet."
