We're Still Here...

...and so are our nine finalists. Play has just slowed considerably due to the hand-for-hand factor.

We'll let you know if anything of significance happens!

Nine Left

With the recent double elimination, the tournament is down to it's final nine players. There are still two tables in action and play is hand-for-hand under one more busts.

One table has Patrick De Koster, Sol Bergren, Rogelio Pardo and Darren Keyes while the other table has Eric Levesque, Pandilica Alin, Carlos Giron, Amer Sulaiman and Francis-Nicolas Bouchard.

Daniel "djaniel" Mar Eliminated in 11th Place ($7,851); Steven "$teveyMoney" Merrifield Eliminated in 10th Place ($9,107)

From the button, Sol Bergren raised to 35,000. Steven "$teveyMoney" Merrifield reraised from the small blind, making it 108,000 to go. Daniel "djaniel" Mar was in the big blind and moved all in for 127,000 total. Action fell back on Bergren and he sat in the tank. Before proceeding any further, Bergren wanted to know that if he called, could Merrifield reraise. Bergren was informed that Merrifield could not reraise.

After another minute in the tank, Bergren made the call as did Merrifield and the three players saw the flop come {8-Hearts} {7-Spades} {4-Hearts}. Merrifield and Bergren were the two active players remaining, with the all-in and at-risk Mar watching while standing next to the table.

Merrifield checked and then Bergren checked behind.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} and Merrifield moved all in. Bergren went back into the tank for the second time during the same hand. He removed his hat and stood from his chair. After he sat back down, he asked for a count on the all-in bet from Merrifield. It was 268,000 if Bergren wanted to make the call. Another few minutes passed by and then Bergren called.

Mar tabled {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} and was ahead at the time, yelling, "Hold up one time baby!"

Merrifield held a straight draw and a flush draw with the {A-Spades} {6-Spades}.

"I don't have a pair." announced Bergren, revealing the {K-Spades} {J-Spades}.

The dealer pulled in the chips to the side pot and then dealt the river...

The {K-Diamonds} smashed on the table like a cement block, completing the board and nailing Bergren with a pair of kings to give him the winning hand. Merrifield slammed his hand on the table, complaining about how terrible a call Bergren just made while pacing back and forth.

Mar was sent home in 11th place and Merrifield in 10th place. Bergren moved up to 1.106 million chips.

Alin v. Levesque III

Pandilica Alin opened the pot with a raise to 26,000 and Carlos Giron made the call. Action then folded around the table to Eric Levesque in the big blind, who has a history with both players.

"My two favorite players," said Levesque. "How could I not get involved?" he said (paraphrased), tossing the extra 14,000 in to the pot to make the call.

The flop came down {8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Levesque passed the first option to Alin, who fired a continuation bet of 37,000. Giron made a quick call and the action returned to Levesque, who put in a raise, kicking it up to 105,000. Alin quickly folded, but Giron stuck around to see the turn: {5-Hearts}

Levesque then checked and Giron fired a 100,000 bet. Levesque just called.

The last card off the deck was the {9-Hearts} and there would be no checking on 5th Street. Levesque counted out 200,000 worth of chips from his stack leaving him a little less than 200,000 behind, and slid them into the middle. Giron tanked, but eventually folded, conceding the pot to Levesque.

"How's that?!" Levesque boasted, tabling the {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. "How's that?!" he said again, all the while staring down his defeated opponent.

After the hand, Levesque stacked up 950,000 in chips while Giron dropped to 430,000.

Aggro Pardo

Rogelio Pardo
Rogelio Pardo
Here's two hands to show you how aggressive Rogelio Pardo has been lately.

On the first hand, Francis-Nicolas Bouchard raised to 28,000 and Eric Levesque called. Carlos Giron reraised from the small blind, making it 93,000 to go. Rogelio Pardo was in the big blind and jacked up the action to 275,000. All three players folded and Pardo showed only the {K-Clubs}.

Two hands later, Francis-Nicolas Bouchard, Eric Levesque and Rogelio Pardo all saw a flop for 33,000 a piece. It was Levesque who made the preflop raise. Pardo had called on the button and Bouchard from the big blind.

The flop was {10-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} and Bouchard checked. Levesque fired 42,000. Pardo raised to 300,000 and took down the pot, getting both his opponents to fold. Levesque showed that he folded {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}.

Keyes Picking Up Chips Preflop

Patrick De Koster raised and Sol Bergren called before Darren Keyes moved all in for 209,000 more. The original raise from De Koster was unknown. De Koster tanked, but eventually folded. Bergren also took his time, but folded as well. Keyes picked up the pot and move near 300,000 chips.

Bouchard Outraces Pardo; Doubles to 275,000

Francis-Nicolas Bouchard and Rogelio Pardo got it all in prelop and racing; Pardo with {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Boucher with {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

Pandilica Alin, watching the hand unfold from the two seat, predicted an ace and it was an ace that did Pardo in, as the board filled out {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} in favor of Boucher.

"You're welcome," Alin told Bouchard after the hand.

Steven Merrifield Triples Up

Steven Merrifield still has a little bit of run-good left in the tank, though he'll have to be cautious moving forward, as he used up a good chunk of it in a hand that went down moments ago.

Short-stacked, Merrifield open-shoved all in for a total of 114,000. Action then folded to Darren Keyes who moved in over the top for a total of 260,000.

"How much is that?" asked Patrick De Koster from the big blind.

"I'm all in," he said, moments later, setting up a threeway preflop showdown:

Merrifield: {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Koster: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Keyes: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

The board then ran out {7-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and Koster took down the main pot with two pair, eights and sevens. Keyes took down the side pot with two pair, sevens and threes.

After the chips were divvyed up, we counted Merrifield at 370,000 in chips, Keyes at 249,000 and Koster at 700,000.

Mar Doubles

Steven "$teveyMoney" Merrifield raised to 28,000 from the button and Daniel "djaniel" Mar moved all in from the small blind for 151,000. After the big blind folded, Merrifield immediately called.

Merrifield held {A-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} and Mar held {Q-Hearts} {8-Hearts}.

The board ran out {K-Spades} {9-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {K-Hearts} to give Mar the double up. Merrifield slipped to 110,000. Mar now has over 300,000 chips.
