Fred Dykes Eliminated in 16th Place ($5,339)

Fred Dykes
Fred Dykes
Former chip leader Fred Dykes has played his last pot here at the PokerStars.net APPT Playa Conchal main event. His executioner was Francis-Nicolas Bouchard, who now sits with just over 400,000 in chips.

Bouchard opened the pot with a raise and Dykes moved all in for an additional 82,500. Bouchard made the call and tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Dykes turned over a pocket pair of fives and the two were off to the races.

The {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop had Dykes way ahead. He retained the lead on the turn when the {6-Hearts} popped off. It was on 5th Street that Dykes received the fatal blow. The dealer burned and revealed the final card -- the {J-Clubs} -- which gave Bouchard a Broadway straight, sending Dykes to the rail in 16th place.

Edgar Cruz Eliminated in 17th Place ($4,711)

Edgar Cruz
Edgar Cruz
Edgar Cruz has just been eliminated from the tournament by chip leader Carlos Giron. Here's how the hand went down:

Action folded around the table to Clay Maguire on the button who opened with a raise to 20,000. Giron called from the small blind, as did Cruz in the big.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Giron passed the first option to Cruz, who immediately shoved all in for 68,500. Maguire folded and Giron tanked for a solid three minutes before eventually making the call with {10-Spades}{9-Spades}. Cruz tabled {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

Cruz picked up some additional outs after the {Q-Hearts} fell on the turn, giving him a flush draw, but the river blanked ({4-Clubs}) and Giron took down the pot, improving to 720,000 in chips on the day.
