The Shark Gets Caught

Fernando Davicino raised to 2,100 from early position and action folded to Humberto Brenes in the big blind. These two players have been mixing it up with each other all day, with Davicino usually coming out on top. Afterall, it was Davicino who had rivered a set of fours earlier in the day to down Brenes' flopped two pair with big slick.

Brenes asked for a count and discoved Davicino had a total of about 20,000. Brenes then grabbed a stack of chips, enough to put his opponent all in, and tossed them in the pot. Davicino quickly called and turned over {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Brenes did not seem pleased as he revealed his {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}. The board ran out {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{A-Spades}{3-Clubs} giving Davicino the double and leaving Brenes with around 4,500.

Race Off the Green

It is the end of Level 7 and the clock has been stopped so tournament officials can race of the green chips, which are worth 25 each. This ought to take a few minutes but once completed, action will continue for another level.

Stack D_rying Up

Danny "THE_D_RY" Ryan has been quiet lately. After a player in middle position opened to 1,500, Ryan decided it was time to get some action going. He three-bet to 4,400 on the button. The original raiser asked Ryan how much he had behind. It was 26,000. Without counting his own chips, the guy slid out his whole stack of yellows and his two blues. The bet came to a total of 29,500. Ryan thought for a minute before mucking.

Chan vs Guillen

A big hand just developed between two of the most established pros in the room. As we mentioned before, Angel Guillen was recently moved to the same table as Terrence Chan, so it was only a matter of time before the two squared off.

In this hand, Guillen raised to 1,300 from the cutoff only to have Chan reraise to 4,200 from the big blind. Guillen tanked over the decision for a few moments before making the call and seeing the flop come {8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Surprisingly, both players checked.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and this time Chan bet 5,500, which Guillen called. Chan wasted little time in betting 12,000 when the {7-Hearts} hit the river. The bet send Guillen into the tank for a solid three minutes before he finally conceded. Guillen dropped to 27,000 after the hand while Chan is approaching 80,000.

Guillen On His Way Up

Angel Guillen
Angel Guillen

PokerStars Team Pro Mexico member Angel Guillen has been lying low much of the day but that has changed as of late. In a recent hand, Guillen was in the small blind and heads-up against the player in the cutoff. There was about 4,000 in the pot with the board reading {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} when Guillen check-called his opponent's 1,750 bet.

The river came the {10-Spades} and again Guillen checked. This time the cutoff fired out 3,500 and Guillen snap called. The cutoff simply mucked and Guillen was obliged to show {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. With that win, Guillen is up around 30,000; however, he will have his work cut out for him as he is seated at the same table as Terrence Chan and Maria Mayrinck.
