Day 3 Completed

Final Final Table of LAPT Season Three Set

Chip-leader Roberto Bianchi
Chip-leader Roberto Bianchi

It was a short day at the City Center Casino. Two dozen players arrived promptly at noon to play down to a final table in the LAPT Season Three Grand Final. And five hours later, the dirty business was done. After several hours of unstoppable aggression, Argentinian Roberto Bianchi finished at the top of the counts. Bolivar Palacios and Francisco de Belaustegui began Day 3 as chip leaders, separated by less than a big blind. But while de Belaustegui floundered and found himself on the rail in 15th place, Palacios flourished. He will go into the final table just behind Bianchi.

Angel Guillen was the only Team PokerStars Pro to return today with shot at the final table. He wielded his short stack to hang on until 17th place. Terrence Chan continued to run circles around his tablemates until one unsuccessful check-raise bluff left him under ten big blinds. From there he doubled and shrank again, then ran pocket eights into a pair of tens to finish in tenth place. With the elimination of short-stack Gustavo Flessak in ninth, the final table was set by 5:30.

All eyes will be on Matthias Habernig when final table action begins on Sunday. He won the most recent LAPT in Florianopolis, Brazil last month. If he is crowned victor of LAPT Argentina, he could be the second person this season to win two in a row. Jose "Nacho" Barbero achieved that feat in Punta del Este and Lima.

Here are the stacks and seating assignments to start the final table:

Seat 1: Roberto Bianchi (Argentina) - 1,242,000
Seat 2: William Ross (USA) - 352,000
Seat 3: Ivan Saul (Argentina) - 179,000
Seat 4: Nicolas Alberto Fierro Gottner (Chile) - 406,000
Seat 5: Matthias Habernig (Austria) - 465,000
Seat 6: Martin Sansour (Peru) - 952,000
Seat 7: Bolivar Palacios (Panama) - 1,006,000
Seat 8: Daniel Ades (Argentina) - 514,000

Join us LIVE on Sunday at noon local time when we play down to a Season Three LAPT Grand Champion.

Gustavo Flessak Eliminated in 9th Place ($17,050)

Gustavo Flessak - 9th Place
Gustavo Flessak - 9th Place

Gustavo Flessak, who was one of the smaller stacks at the table, moved all-in from the cutoff and was called by Roberto Bianchi from the button. Once the blinds folded, the cards were turned up:

Flessak: {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Bianchi: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

Once again, it was off to the races; however, it didn't take long to determine who was going to win this one as the flop came {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, giving Bianchi a set. The {2-Spades} on the turn left Flessak drawing dead and the {K-Spades} was put out on the river as a formality. As the other players celebrated their final table accomplishment, Flessak became the ninth place finisher.

New Seats

The players have redrawn seats for the last table; however, it will not be the official final table until we lose one more player. Here are how things look heading into nine-handed play:

Seat 1: Gustavo Flessak (246,000)
Seat 2: Roberto Bianchi (970,000)
Seat 3: William Ross (330,000)
Seat 4: Ivan Saul (200,000)
Seat 5: Nicolas Alberto Fierro Gottner (410,000)
Seat 6: Matthias Habernig (469,000)
Seat 7: Martin Sansour (925,000)
Seat 8: Bolivar Palacios (1,000,000)
Seat 9: Daniel Ades (470,000)

Ades Doubles in Dramatic Fashion

While Chan was being ousted on the feature table, there was a near-elimination on Table 2. Daniel Ades moved all in for 250,000 after blinding away for most of the afternoon. In the big blind, Roberto Bianchi made the call.

Ades: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Bianchi: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}

The flop earned an exclamation from the crowd - {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. But the {k-Clubs} turn caused an even bigger commotion. The river fell the {3-Diamonds}, and Ades managed the suck-resuck to double up.

The players are now taking a break to redraw to the nine-handed unofficial final table.

Terrence Chan Eliminated in 10th Place ($17,050)

Terrence Chan - 10th Place
Terrence Chan - 10th Place

Terrence Chan moved his short stack all in, and Matthias Habernig called. It was bad news for Chan. He turned over {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, and Habernig held {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. The {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Spades} flop ended the suspense, and Chan had already shaken hands with the table and started taking his mic off by the time he was drawing dead on the {k-Hearts} turn. The meaningless river fell the {3-Hearts}.

A Pair of Doubles

Daniel Ades was blinding away and down to his last 122,000 before he opted to make a stand. Action folded to him in the small blind and he moved all-in. Gustavo Flessak made the call and they were off to the races:

Flessak: {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Ades: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

Ades has been playing slow and tight as of late, much like the tortoise against the hare, and it paid off in this race. The board ran out {2-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Ades doubled to 254,000.

Meanwhile, William Ross moved all-in preflop from the cutoff over at the other table and received a from call from Matthias Habernig in the big blind. Ross was behind with {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} against the {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds} of Habernig. That all changed as the board ran out {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Ross doubled to nearly 350,000 while Habernig was left with 250,000.

Ross Doubles, Still Short

William Ross moved all-in preflop from the small blind for his last 118,000 or so and was snap-called by Terrence Chan in the big. When the cards were turned up, Chan was in a dominating position:

Chan: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Ross: {J-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

The {Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop was no help to Ross and neither was the {K-Spades} on the turn. In order to stay alive Ross needed to catch a deuce on the river, and that is just what he did when the {2-Spades} hit. Both the crowd and Chan seemed stunned by the lightning deuce. After the hand Chan was left with around 200,000 while Ross doubled to 236,000.

Chan Fades the World to Double

Terrence Chan had fewer than 10 big blinds after his paid his big blind. Action folded to William Ross in the small blind, and Ross bet enough to put Chan all in. Chan said he called and flipped his cards, but the dealer thought the hand was over and pushed the pot to Ross. It took a minute to recreate the antes and bets and separate the pot from Ross' stack, but everything was set to rights calmly. Time to run it.

Chan: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Ross: {j-Spades}{8-Spades}

The {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} flop was the opposite of what Chan was hoping to see as it gave Ross straight and flush draws. The {j-Clubs} turn was good for Chan, and he dodged all of the draws with {q-Hearts} on the river to double up and leave Ross short. Chan, now with around 270,000, still has plenty of work to do.
