Habernig Doubles Through Ruzzi

After Gustavo Flessak and Mario Niciforo limped, Matthias Habernig raised to 32,000 from the cutoff. Matias Ruzzi was on the button and reraised to 100,000. Flessak and Niciforo got out of the way and Habernig moved all-in for a total of 200,000. Ruzzi made the call and they turned over their cards:

Ruzzi: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Habernig: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{A-Clubs} and Habernig, the LAPT Florianopolis champ, doubled to around 450,000. Meanwhile, Ruzzi was left with just 80,000.

Freddy Tores Eliminated in 19th Place ($8,820)

Freddy Tores - 19th Place
Freddy Tores - 19th Place

On the feature table, Freddy Tores found himself all in with {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Those cards would have looked a whole lot better, however, if Bolivar Palacios hadn't called with {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} to put Tores at risk. The board ran out {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, and with a better two pair, Palacios eliminated Tores. The Panamanian is now up to 545,000, while the Colombian headed to collect his $8,820 in 19th place.

Gerardo Godinez Estrada Eliminated in 20th Place ($8,820)

Gerardo Godinez Estrada - 20th Place

Gerardo Godinez Estrada opened for 25,000 and Roberto Bianchi made the call from the big blind. The flop came down {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Bianchi checked to Estrada, who bet 30,000. Bianchi quickly raised to 80,000 and Estrada thought it over for a minute before announcing, "All in."

"Call," replied Bianchi in an instant, turning over {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Estrada, who was the one all in for an additional 220,000 or so, was in big troube with his {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and would need runner-runner to survive.

The {7-Spades} on the turn gave him some hope and it was down to the river. The dealer burned and flipped the {6-Spades} on the river. Bianchi was vaulted into the chip lead while Estrada was eliminated from the tournament in 20th place.

Carlos Augusto Perez Herrera Eliminated in 21st Place ($8,820)

Carlos Augusto Perez Herrera - 21st Place
Carlos Augusto Perez Herrera - 21st Place

Carlos Augusto Perez Herrera was on the button and put in a raise to 20,000. Roberto Bianchi, who has been quite active lately, was in the small blind and immediately announced a raise. He stacked some chips and made it 52,000 to go.

Terrence Chan folded in the big blind and Herrera responded by moving all-in for 69,000 more. Bianchi had him covered but tanked for a solid minute before making the call.

Bianchi: {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Herrera: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Herrera was ahead and remained so after the {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop. The cameras were rolling as the {5-Clubs} was put out on the turn, changing nothing. Herrera needed to dodge a king on the river to double. The dealer burned and revealed the {K-Spades}! Bianchi slapped the table in celebration and all Herrera could do was bow his head in defeat. He was eliminated from the tournament in 21st place.

Hector Balsano Eliminated in 22nd Place ($8,820)

Hector Balsano - 22nd Place
Hector Balsano - 22nd Place

We've all seen it before. A player in early position (this time Luis Alberto Bonnet) opens (this time to 24,000). Another man (here, Hector Balsano) takes a deep breath and three-bets to 85,000. Then the small blind (Mario Niciforo) takes two deep breaths and shoves. Bonnet snap-folded, and Balsano called to risk his tournament life. Both players were close in chips, but Niciforo's 200k had Balsano slightly covered.

Showdown
Balsano: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Niciforo: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop was clean for Balsano. The {7-Hearts} changed nothing on the turn. Then boom. The {k-Diamonds} on the river could be heard down the hall in the slot parlor. Niciforo let out a whoop, and Balsano stood back, stunned. He was led away to get paid out with Niciforo still celebrating. A minute later, Niciforo followed Balsano to shake his hand.
