Misstep for Chan

Terrence Chan checked a {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} board, then called when Martin Sansour bet 50,000. the river brought the {9-Hearts}, and Chan checked again. Sansour bet 60,000, and this time, Chan raised him to 180,000. Sansour made the call with pocket aces, and Chan's {k-}{10-} wasn't able to stand up to two pair. Chan dropped to around 125,000.

Palacios Takes a Small One from the Chip Leader

Action folded to chip leader Roberto Bianchi and he raised from the cutoff to 40,000. Bolivar Palacios made the call from the big blind and the two saw a flop of {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Bianchi checked and Palacios did the same. When the {2-Clubs} hit the river, Bianchi checked, Palacios bet 55,000 and Bianchi called. Both players checked the {Q-Diamonds} on the river and it was time for a showdown. Bianchi showed {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} but was behind the {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} of Palacios.

Luis Bonnet Eliminated in 11th Place ($14,700)

Luis Bonnet - 11th Place
Luis Bonnet - 11th Place

Luis Bonnet open-shoved for 93,000 under-the-gun. Bolivar Palacios was next to act, having been moved to the outer table only a few hands before. He took his time and decided to flat call. In the big blind, unstoppable-force Roberto Bianchi called as well. The flop came {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Bianchi had already checked in the dark, and Palacios checked behind. After the {6-Hearts} turn, Bonnet fired 150,000 into the dry side pot. Palacios called. Bianchi checked dark again, and after the {2-Clubs} river, Palacios checked too.

Bianchi tabled {a-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a flopped two pair. That was enough to beat Palacios {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. And Bonnet just got up to leave, but Daniel Ades grabbed his cards to see what he'd had. It was {10-Diamonds}{10-}, not bad for under-the-gun with eight big blinds, but not good enough. Bonnet finished in 11th place, Bianchi is up to 1.533 million, and Palacios was left with 530,000.

Jose Guevara Eliminated in 12th Place ($14,700)

Jose Guevara - 12th Place
Jose Guevara - 12th Place

Jose Guevara pushed all-in preflop with {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and was in good shape to double when he was called by Martin Sansour's {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, giving both players a pair of kings but making Guevara' jack kicker the best hand.

That all changed when the {10-Hearts} peeled off on the turn. Guevara, visibly shaken by the card, threw up his hands in frustration. The {K-Clubs} on the river improved both hands, but it was Sansour's full house that would prevail over Guevara's three kings. Guevara was eliminated from the tournament in 12th place.

Branimir Brunovic Eliminated in 13th Place ($12,350)

Branimir Brunovic - 13th Place

Branimir Brunovic open shoved from middle position for 150,000. He got through the button and the small blind. Then he came up against chip-monster Roberto Bianchi in the big blind. Bianchi asked for a count and thought for a minute before making the call. Brunovic looked extremely unhappy. After that action, both turned over stronger-than-expected hands.

Brunovic: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Bianchi: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop was no help to Brunovic. Neither was the {j-Clubs} turn, though one of Bianchi's supporters thought it was a bad card and let out a yelp. The {j-Hearts} river meant Brunovic was eliminated in 13th place. Bianchi clapped and celebrated while Brunovic shook a few hands and left quietly. Bianchi increased his stack to 1.33 million. It is quickly approaching three times the size of the next largest pile of chips.

Mario Niciforo Eliminated in 14th Place ($12,350)

Mario Niciforo - 14th Place

Mario Niciforo shipped his remaining 120,000 in preflop with the {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and received a call from Roberto Bianchi, who held the {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. It was off to the races for Niciforo's tournament life.

The {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop kept Bianchi in the lead and left Niciforo looking for either an ace, eight, or runner-runner straight cards. The {2-Clubs} on the turn changed nothing and Niciforo was down to the last card. He gazed at the board as the dealer burned and revealed the {4-Spades}. Bianchi took down the pot, becoming the monster chip leader with 1.18 million, while eliminating Niciforo in 14th place.

Francisco de Belaustegui Eliminated in 15th Place ($10,000)

Francisco de Belaustegui - 15th Place

Francisco de Belaustegui, who started the day as the chip leader, has been eliminated courtesy of Martin Sansour. De Belaustegui was all-in preflop with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} but behind Sansour's {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

The flop came down {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, keeping Sansour firmly in the lead. The {2-Diamonds} on the turn left de Belaustegui drawing to an ace on the river. However, it was not meant to be as the {9-Diamonds} fell on the river. De Belaustegui was sent to the rail in 15th place.
