Wayne Spins It Up

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Carolyn Wayne
Carolyn Wayne

Carolyn Wayne started the day with just 27,000 and has spun to just below average stack in the first three levels of day 2. The Las Vegas resident just scored a pre-break double after her pocket kings held against Daryl Benton's pocket eights.

Break Time

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Just 157 remaining players remain in Day 2 and they are now on their first 15-minute break of the day.

The top 151 players make the money, so it is expected the bubble will burst in Level 17.

More Day 2 Casualties

Skolin Departs

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Karl Skolin was all-in with his last 4,000 from under the gun. David Hu raised to 20,000 from the cutoff but folded when Luc Vanhaesendonck jammed for 130,000 from the small blind.

Skolin was all-in blind and was pleased to see his {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} but that joy fizzled away after seeing his opponent's {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

Skolin could not connect on the {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades} runout and was ousted before the money.

Assennato Doubles Through Salvatore Near the Bubble

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

On a board of {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Fabio Assennato and Salvino Salvatore had all of their chips in the middle.

Fabio Assennato: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Salvnio Salvatore: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

There was no help for Salvatore on the {4-Clubs} turn or {3-Hearts} river and Assennatos kings won the pot and left Salvatore with six big blinds.

Persent Knocks Out Laufersweiler with Nine-High

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

With 54,000 in the middle and a board of {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Cristiano Blanco bet 21,000 from middle position. Jon Persent called from the button, but Peter Lauftersweiler moved all-in for 155,000 from the big blind.

Blanco tanked before releasing his hand. Persent reviewed his stack and cut out calling chips.

Peter Lauftersweiler: {4-Spades}{5-Spades}
Jon Persent: {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Persent was ahead with his 9-high but Lauftersweiler had plenty of outs with his open ended straight flush draw. The final two streets came {q-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and Lauftersweiler was eliminated by Persent's nine-high.

Monaghan Takes From Israel

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Nemo Israel opened to 16,000 from the button and was called by Paul Monaghan in the big blind.

Monaghan check-called a bet of 15,000 on the {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop before action checked through on the {9-Diamonds} turn and {9-Hearts} river.

Monaghan had the {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for a pair of tens and it was good to scoop the pot.

Ringo Stimac: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Jacek Pustula: {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Stimac would end hitting a set and would scoop after the {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} runout.
