O'Dwyer Eliminated

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Steve O'Dwyer was seen walking out of the tournament area and, upon request, told us what had happened.

A player with 6 big blinds total, raised to half his stack. Finding {3-}{3-} in the small blind, O'Dwyer shoved for 19 big blinds. The big blind woke up with {A-}{K-} and went to battle as well, the initial raiser called for his last 43 big blinds.

O'Dwyer was up against {8-}{7-} (short stack) and {A-}{K-} (big blind) and did not win.

"I just want to keep playing" said O'Dwyer with a somewhat frustrated voice, before cracking a smile and walking away.

Net's Stack Grows Big

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We just caught the tail end of a big hand between Rembert Net and Juha Helppi. The board read {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Net had 66,000 in front of him. Helppi tanked long and hard and eventually called. Net showed {3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Helppi mucked.

Helppi was down to 26,300 after that hand, but doubled the next hand with ace-ten versus ace-six.

Malec Eliminated

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Sebastian Malec, who took down the EPT Barcelona Main Event for €1,122,800 a couple of months ago, lives in Maastricht these days, a city in the far south of The Netherlands.

So it wasn't a surprise to see him pop up in the Main Event here, and he did quite well before he just busted in an unfortunate situation.

According to a colleague, Sebastian Malec and Abdelhakim Zoufri got it in on a board of {Q-}{6-}{2-}{10-}{5-}. Malec tabled {6-}{6-} for the flopped set but Zoufri had the one up with {Q-}{Q-} for the higher three of a kind.

Big Stack Poker

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Raoul Refos is sitting on a big stack of almost 180,000, and told us about a fun hand he just played.

An older gentleman pushed for 20,500 and Refos called holding {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Sander van Wesemael, right behind Refos, pushed all in for 35,000. Refos called and turned out to be up against {10-}{10-} (older gentleman) and {A-}{K-} (Van Wesemael).

The board ran out {J-}{X-}{X-}{10-}{K-} and Refos busted both of his opponents with the rivered nuts.

One table over, David Boyaciyan sits with an even bigger stack of 200,000. He told us he took down several pots in a row, mostly post flop.

Steven van Zadelhoff Eliminates Tom Hall

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Action folded to Tom Hall on the button and he jammed for 22,500. Small blind Steven van Zadelhoff casually called while nibbling on a bitterbal. The big blind folded.

Tom Hall: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Steven van Zadelhoff: {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Hall departed.

Krijn Done For

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Tonny Krijn
Tonny Krijn

Tonnie Krijn has been eliminated from the Master Classics of Poker Main Event. One of the most colorful characters is no more. Here's what happened, according to a colleague that witnessed the hand.

After a raise to 3,500, Krijn three-bet to 9,000 holding {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. Action folded back to his opponent and a four-bet to 22,000 followed. Krijn shoved for about 45,000 and his opponent called with {K-}{K-}.

The board ran out {Q-}{Q-}{2-}{10-}{5-} and, despite picking up some outs on the turn, Krijn's day came to an end.
