Day 2 of the Master Classics of Poker Amsterdam was the day to play down to the money. After 7 levels of play, that goal was reached. Joris "BillLewinsky" Ruijs bubbled the prestigious event in the Dutch capital, Igor Yaroshevskyy leads.

The day started with the elimination of Dutch Fatima Moreira de Melo. The sponsored pro started out the shortest but got it in good with ace-queen against ace-ten. Her opponent made a straight and after just 2 hands, she could return back home.

Sander van Wesemael, the Dutch record-holder if it comes to MCOP events won, followed her to the rail not much later. His jacks fell to countryman Niek Minten's ace-king and that was it for the Dutch grinder.

The news at the start of the day would be dominated by bust outs. Orpen Kisacikoglu (straight versus flush), Joep van den Bijgaart (pair versus flush draw that got there), and Jorryt van Hoof (top pair and top kicker versus a flush draw) all busted before the money was even in sight.

Same could be said about Ole Schemion who lost with kings to aces and aces in a big all in. Another big all in, again involving aces and kings, was between Govert Metaal and Jean-Philippe Schoonboord. Metal limped with aces under the gun and Schoonbrood over limped with kings plus one. The 2 got it in before the flop anyway as another player raised and a 3-bet followed. A king on the flop did Metaal in, setting him back considerably, he busted not much later.

It would take to well after midnight for the bubble to burst. Rens Feenstra lost a lot of chips trying to bluff Martin Kabrhel of a full house, but he won a lot of it back the next hand crippling Joris Ruijs with kings against ace-king.

Ruijs was down to a single big blind after that and he lost it the next hand to John Juanda. Juanda had kings and Ruijs, despite hitting a four on the flop, did not make a comeback.

With just 39 players remaining, the day was done and the bags came out. Play resumes on Thursday with the goal of reaching the final table. All of the remaining players are guaranteed €8,577. For the champion, a first-place prize of €235,087 is set aside. Check back tomorrow for continued coverage of the 2017 Master Classics of Poker Main Event, live from Holland Casino Amsterdam.

Three More Hands

And the day is done. We'll report back with end-of-day counts and a recap of today's action as soon as all the information is made available by the tournament organization.

Joris Ruijs Bubbles the 2017 MCOP Main Event

Joris Ruijs

Action folded to John Juanda on the button and he opened for 8,000. Small blind Rens Feenstra, who had won the majority of Ruijs' chips just a hand earlier, 3-bet to 31,000. Ruijs called all in and Juanda was quick to move in over the top. Feenstra laid it down instantly.

Joris Ruijs: {10-Clubs}{4-Spades}
John Juanda: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The window card was the {4-Hearts} which had the rail and some other players rooting for tens and fours, to no avail. The {A-Hearts} on the turn diminished the number of outs Ruijs had, and the {6-Spades} on the river wasn't one of the ones he had left.

After Johan "busto_soon" van Til bubbled the Main Event last year, this time it was the unfortunate Joris "BillLewinsky" Ruijs to be the last one to return home empty-handed.

Feenstra Loses Lots to Kabrhel, Cripples Ruijs on the Bubble

Rens Feenstra lost a big portion of his stack to Martin Kabrhel when he tried to bluff the latter. Kabrhel called with a full house to leave Feenstra with just 151,000.

Not much later, Joris Ruijs opened under the gun for 9,000. Big blind Feenstra 3-bet to 35,000 and Ruijs shoved. Feenstra called.

Joris Ruijs: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Rens Feenstra: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Feenstra doubled. Ruijs has just over one big blind left with 40 players remaining and 39 in the money.

Minten Minted

Webjoker • Level 16: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

Niek Minten was seen on the rail with a beer in his hand. Down to just 36,000, he shoved from the cutoff holding {A-}{8-}. The big blind woke up with {A-}{10-} and wasn't folding. No help for Minten on the flop, turn, or river and the tournament was down to just 42 players.

Minten Loses to Dietrich

Webjoker • Level 16: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

Niek Minten opened for 9,000 under the gun plus one and Moritz Dietrich called from the big blind. Both players checked the flop of {6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} and the {7-Hearts} on the turn. The {J-Spades} completed the board and Dietrich checked again. Minten bet 16,500 and Dietrich check-raised to 60,000. Minten called but mucked upon being shown {A-Spades}{9-Spades} by Dietrich.

Another Dutch Bracelet Winner Gone

Webjoker • Level 16: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

Marcel Vonk was short most of the day, and just lost his last chips to Martin Kabrhel. Rens Feenstra, Vonk's former neighbor, filled us in on the details.

From middle position, Kabrhel opened on Vonk's big blind. Vonk shoved for 30,000 total and Kabrhel called with {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Vonk had {A-}{J-} and saw his Czech opponent hit a pretty good flop: {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-}. The turn and river were blanks and mathematical physicist and bracelet winner Vonk made his departure.
