Hoefer Busts While Mangroe More Than Doubles

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Firoz Mangroe
Firoz Mangroe

Firoz Mangroe raised to 2,200 from the cutoff and Paul Hoefer shoved on the button for his last 4,500. Mathijs Jonkers made the call in the big blind but Mangroe four-bet to 12,000. Jonkers called.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, Jonkers checked and Mangroe continued with a bet of 8,000 which was called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, Jonkers checked again and Mangroe now fired a bet of 16,000 into the pot. Jonkers made the call again.

The river completed the board with the {a-Hearts}, Jonkers checked and Mangroe shoved for 23,800. Jonkers dived deep into the tank, trying to figure out what to do. After a while, Jonkers called the clock on himself. The brush came over after a while and called out the 30-second clock without looking at the situation. When the 10-second warning was given, Jonkers flicked in the chip for the call.

Mangroe tabled {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} for the rivered set of aces. Hoefer showed he held {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for the flopped lower set of kings and the rai gasped. Jonkers flung his cards over the line but he had to show so he flipped over {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.
