Madsen Doubles in First Hand

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

Jakob Madsen has just doubled up in the first hand he played after jumping into the Main Event and was kind enough to relay what had happened:

Olvedo Heinze raised to 1,000 from the early position and was called by Madsen in the middle position and the player in the big blind.

The flop came ]jx6x3x] with two diamonds. The big blind checked, Heinze continued with a bet of one-third of the pot, which was called by both Madsen and the big blind.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, the big blind and Heinze checked, Madsen took over the initiative and led out for 5,200. The player in the big blind shoved with the bigger stack and Heinze quickly folded while Madsen called with {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for the nut flush. The player in the big blind had {7-}{4-} with one diamond.

The river didn't change anything and Madsen earned his double-up.

Franco Doubles Up

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Just before the break, a player raised to 1,200 and the player in the hijack three-bet to 3,100. Sonny Franco called on the button and the player in the big blind put in 5,100 but didn't say anything so it was ruled a raise. The initial raiser folded, the hijack shoved, Franco called for the 28,000 he had behind. The big blind folded while visibly showing irritation.

Sonny Franco: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Hijack; {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {j-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for Franco to hold with the queens to double up with.
