Day 3 Completed
Day 3 of the $5,300 Mediterranean Poker Party Main Event has come to its end after nine hours of play here at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel on the shores of Northern Cyprus. A day that started with 42 players ended with just nine, who still remain from the total field of 1,260.
It was a day packed with action right from the get-go as Leon Sturm added to his already massive stack in the first 30 minutes when he rivered two pair to eliminate Thomas Mayer. Shortly after that, he was on the right side of a cooler as he made a bigger full house than Selahaddin Bedir, to score another knockout.
Knockouts continued rapidly as just 26 players of the starting 42 were still in their seats by the first break of the day.
Despite making an epic call for all of his chips with 26 remaining against Paul Runcan, Dmitrii couldn’t hang on to the final day as he bowed out in 18th place for $46,000.
Among the final nine, it was Kirill Shcherbakov who ended as the chip leader with an impressive 100,800,000. Shcherbakov proved throughout the day that he wasn’t afraid to get in the mix and battle, including on last hand of the night when he called down Oliver Weis with top pair to score an incredible pot and send Weis to the payout desk to collect his $62,000 for a tenth-place finish.
Following closely is WSOP bracelet winner Sturm (90,100,000), who had an incredible day of his own, sailing to over 80,000,000 chips near the night's end when he made a full house against Damir Gabdullin.

The day's play has concluded, and the remaining nine players are now packing up their chips for Day 4, where they'll vie for a spot at the final table.
Be sure to catch the complete recap of today's events later.
Kirill Shcherbakov kicked off the action with an open raise to 2,500,000. Oliver Weis countered with a three-bet to 6,500,000, which Shcherbakov matched with a call.
The flop landed J♣Q♠2♦, prompting Shcherbakov to check-call Weis's bet of 4,000,000.
On the 5♠ turn, Shcherbakov checked again. Weis fired a bet of 10,500,000, and after some contemplation, Shcherbakov opted to call.
The action heated up on the 3♥ river as Shcherbakov checked once more. Weis pushed all in for 25,700,000. Shcherbakov delved into his time bank, exhausting all four of his remaining cards, before ultimately opting to call.
Weis's expression soured as he revealed K♦10♦, showcasing a king-high and a busted straight draw. Shcherbakov, on the other hand, beamed with delight as he revealed K♣Q♣ for a pair of queens, seizing the chip lead.

Birger Larsen jammed for 10,000,000 under the gun, and Damir Gabdullin called next to act.
Birger Larsen: A♥8♥
Damir Gabdullin: A♠K♣
The A♦J♦8♠ flop connected with Larsen as he flopped two pair. The 3♠ turn, and 7♥ river changed nothing, sending Larsen the double-up.

Birger Larsen opened the action with a raise to 2,500,000, which was called by Mihai Niste from the big blind.
The flop came 10♣10♠2♣, and Niste check-raised Larsen's bet of 1,200,000 to 3,400,000. Larsen opted to call.
Taking the lead on the 4♦ turn, Niste bet 3,600,000, prompting Larsen to respond with an all-in. Niste called almost instantly, revealing his hand: A♥10♥. Larsen showed A♠Q♣. With no river card in Larsen's favor, Niste secured the double-up.

Iurii Suvorov opened 2,400,000 in the hijack, and Leon Sturm called on the button before Damir Gabdullin defended the big blind.
The dealer fanned a flop of A♠J♦5♠, and Gabdullin checked to Suvorov who continued for 2,700,000. Both Sturm and Gabdullin made the call.
The 9♠ fell on the turn, and the action checked to Sturm who fired 4,400,000. This time only Gabdullin made the call.
When the 5♣ completed the board, Gabdullin checked and Strum fired a bet of 18,500,000. Gabdullin went deep into the tank, using multiple time banks.
Eventually, Gabdullin made the call. Sturm quickly tabled A♦5♦ for a full house, and Gabdullin mucked his hand.
