2026 Merit Poker Montenegro Championship
Out of the small blind, Nikolay Fal was all-in for his stack of 1,140,000, and Jon Kyte, who was seated in the big blind, was trying to bust him.
Nikolay Fal: A♣K♦
Jon Kyte: A♦8♦
Fal was in a great spot to double up just before the break, if he could fade an unfortunate runout.
The flop of 6♣4♦5♣ helped neither player, nor did the 10♣ turn. Only an eight or a seven on the river would send the Main Event to the last two tables.
It didn't come for Kyte, as the 10♥ completed the board, and Fal doubled.
Timur Margolin raised the button to 100,000 and Oleksii Shchukin defended his big blind.
Shchukin checked on the K♣Q♦Q♥ flop and Margolin fired out for 70,000. Shchukin continued with a call.
Check, check came after the 6♠ turn to see the K♦ roll out on the river. Shchukin bet 100,000, and after giving it some thought, Margolin returned his cards to the dealer, and the pot headed over to Shchukin.
Nikolay Ponomarev opened the button to 100,000 and Yaser Sakarya three-bet the small blind to 375,000. Once the action was back on Ponomarev, he shoved for 970,000, and Sakarya took a little time before he called.
Nikolay Ponomarev: 8♠8♥
Yaser Sakarya: K♣Q♠
Ponomarev found himself in a flip with pocket eights, and didn't like to see the K♦ in the window. It was followed by A♥3♥, which did gave Ponomarev a backdoor flush draw.
However, nothing materialized as the Q♣7♠ turn and river meant Ponomarev was out in 18th,
Nikolai Isaev raised to 100,000 in the hijack before Predrag Premovic shoved the cutoff for 910,000. Once the rest of the players folded, Isaev stuck in the call.
Predrag Premovic: A♦J♦
Nikolai Isaev: A♥K♥
Isaev's big slick was far ahead of Premovic's ace-jack, and Isaev stayed in the lead through the Q♣4♦2♣ flop.
However, lady luck helped Premovic on the turn as the J♥ rolled off to propel him into the lead with a pair. The 8♣ river was a blank and Premovic was back up to 2,000,000.
Mohamed Ameur Hammi just made a huge call to double up through Jon Kyte.
The action was picked up on the turn with the board reading 10♠9♣8♣3♦, where Kyte had checked the small blind. Hammi fired 175,000 from under the gun, which Kyte called.
A 9♥ on the river saw Kyte check it over, then Hammi bet 400,000. Not much time after, Kyte slid out a stack of 2,000,000, which put Hammi to the test for his remaining 1,035,000.
It took close to three minutes for Hammi to make a decision, and he finally flicked in a chip and rolled over A♦A♣. That was good for the pot as Kyte mucked.
Predrag Premovic raised to 100,000 in the cutoff and Ufuk Erkmen jammed the button for 770,000. Premovic snap-called when the action folded to him.
Ufuk Erkmen: A♣J♣
Predrag Premovic: A♦Q♦
Erken was in terrible shape against Premovic's ace-queen, although he took the lead on the J♥4♥K♣ flop by spiking a pair of jacks.
A 4♣ on the turn took away even more of Premovic's outs as Erkmen had a flush draw. A 6♥ on the river completed the board and Erkmen doubled through Premovic.
Aleksandar Tot made it 105,000 under the gun and Jon Kyte defended the big blind.
Kyte started with a check on the J♣J♠6♣ flop and Tot put out a bet of around 100,000. Kyte check-raised to 220,000, which Tot called.
A 3♠ landed on the turn and Kyte bet 400,000, which prompted Tot to jam immediately for about 440,000. Kyte called and the two players flipped their cards.
Aleksandar Tot: K♦J♦
Jon Kyte: 8♠4♠
Tot held trip jacks against Kyte's flush draw that he had picked up on the turn. Only a spade that wasn't the king of spades would end Tot's Main Event run.
It wasn't Tot's day as the A♠ rolled off on the river to give Kyte the backdoor flush, and Tot was the next casualty of the tournament in 19th place.
Level: 26
Blinds: 20,000/50,000
Ante: 50,000
Paul Esau raised the hijack to 80,000 and then called the shove of Zhicheng Miao, who moved all in for around 850,000 from the cutoff.
Zhicheng Miao: A♦J♣
Paul Esau: A♥K♠
Miao was dominated, and couldn't find a way to survive on the 4♥5♥9♦8♥2♦ board, which left him on the sidelines in 20th.
