Contreras Sent to the Rail By Gomez

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
George Gomez
George Gomez

The preflop action escaped us but we do know that RGPS champ Derrick Contreras got his stack of approximately 35,000 all in and was at risk against Jorge Gomez.

Derrick Contreras: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Jorge Gomez: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Gomez had the superior ace and Contreras failed to get lucky as the board ran out a lowly {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

Czinkota Building a Big Stack

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Zoltan Czhkota

Over at Table 7, two big stacks just clashed. It happened when the first-big-stacked player raised to 2,500 from middle position and the players in the small blind called. Zoltan Czinkota, who was sitting with a mountain of chips in the big, then three-bet to 10,000 from the big.

The original raiser called, the small blind folded, and the flop came down {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Czinkota led out for 7,000 and was immediately raised to 27,000.

Czinkota called and then both players proceeded to check the {5-Spades} turn as well as the {8-Diamonds} river. The middle-position player showed the {k-Spades}{9-Hearts} for a pair of kings but it was no good as Czinkota had a bigger pair with his {a-Spades}{q-Spades}.

Welter's Quest for Second Platinum Pass Continues

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Brandon Welter, who won a Platinum Pass for the 2019 PSPC last December at the MSPT Season 9 finale at Canterbury Park, got his stack of 16,000 all in preflop and was at risk against a big stack.

Brandon Welter: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Welter got it in good but his opponent was drawing to two live cards. The {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop was safe for Welter while the {4-Clubs} turn gave his opponent a gutshot straight draw. The {q-Diamonds} river was safe for Welter and he shipped the double.

Quick Double for RGPS Champ Derrick Contreras

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Derrick Contreras, who back in October won the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) Council Bluffs Main Event in Omaha, recently took his seat in the tournament and it didn't take long for him to bink a double.

It happened after the under-the-gun player raised to 2,000 and both the hijack and button called. Contreras then three-bet to 7,400 from the small blind, the original raiser and hijack both folded, and the button called to see the {j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop.

Contreras moved all in for his last 11,000 and the player on the button quickly called.

Derrick Contreras: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Button: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Contreras had the overpair and he held when the {3-Spades} bricked on the turn followed by the {9-Diamonds} on the river.

"I told you this was going to be a lucky seat," Contreras said as he pulled in the pot.
