Debora Falls Short

The new Canadian member of Team PokerStars falls in third at his table
The new Canadian member of Team PokerStars falls in third at his table
Luis Vazquez and Team PokerStars Pro Greg Debora found all of the money in the middle on a board of {K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Both players held a pair of nines, but Vazquez had the better of it. He held {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} to Debora's {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

After a pause for the camera crew to get set up and film everything, the river card was dealt. The {4-Clubs} hit the felt on the end of the board and Debora couldn't get lucky. He was eliminated while Vazquez earned his third bounty. He's now busted everyone at the table and is heads up with Peter Jetten. Jetten though has the chip lead with 80,000 to Vazquez's 45,000.

Another note about this table is that because they only began five handed instead of six handed, the winner will reach the final table with 125,000 chips and not 150,000 like all the other tables. This will put them at a slight disadvantage, but the tournament staff feels this is the best way to even things out as they only had to go through a table of five and not six.

Mercier Moving On

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier
Elijah Berg limped on the button and Jason Mercier raised to 2,300 from the big blind.

Berg called and the flop came {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Mercier bet 3,300 and Berg went all in for about 10,000 more. Mercier called and tabled {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}, leading Berg's {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. The {6-Hearts} turn card gave Berg a few extra outs. "That's an exciting one," he said. "Yeah, let's see a face card," Mercier replied. He got what he wanted as the {K-Diamonds} landed on the river and Elijah Berg is eliminated.

Jason Mercier advances to the final table and with three bounties in his pocket.

Faraz Jaka Advances

Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka raised to 1,800 on the button and Perry Horwich called from the big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Horwich went all in for his remaining 6,500. Jaka called with {J-Spades}{3-Spades} and led Horwich's {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}. The turn and river were blanks for Horwich and he was eliminated.

Faraz Jaka advances to the final table, having picked up three bounties. This is Jaka's second NAPT High Roller Bounty Shootout final table, having made it at the NAPT Venetian in February.

Griffin Sleeping at Another Feature Table Set

Catching some Zzzzzzzzz's
Catching some Zzzzzzzzz's
As we look around the railbirds watching the action at the feature table, there's one lonely body off to the side underneath a hood catching some sleep. That person is none other than Ashton Griffin who won the NAPT Venetian High Roller Bounty Shootout. If anyone remembers our coverage from that event, they'll know that Griffin stayed up ALL night the night before and went into the final table on no sleep. He won the thing and is now sleeping on the set of another NAPT High Roller event. This time though, Griffin's just railing as he's been eliminated from the event. Maybe he's without a hotel room to go back to or maybe he's just really dedicated to watching some of his friends play. Either way, the kid's sound asleep.

Jaka in the Driver Seat

Faraz Jaka just took his chip lead to another level and now has Perry Horwich on the brink with just about 8,000 chips. Jaka just raised a river bet of Horwick to extract about 30,000 chips of value from him after he made a flush on the final card. Horwich had a straight and couldn't let it go. This could be back-to-back final table in NAPT High Roller events for Jaka if he can close out the deal.

Mercier Takes Out Woodward

Matt Woodward - Eliminated
Matt Woodward - Eliminated
Matt Woodward raised to 2,000 on the button and Jason Mercier asked for an approximate count of Woodward's remaining stack. After being told it was about 41,000, Mercier called.

The flop ran out {3-Spades}{Q-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Mercier checked. Woodward bet 2,800 and Mercier raised it to 8,650. Woodward called and the turn brought the {8-Clubs} Mercier shoved with the bigger stack and sent Woodward into the tank. After about four minutes, Woodward called all in for roughly 31,000 with {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, but trailed Mercier's {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Matt Woodward is eliminated. Jason Mercier has about 105,000 and is heads up with Elijah Berg.

Pezzin Punted

Pat Pezzin
Pat Pezzin
Pat Pezzin was all in prefloip and at risk against Matt Glantz. Good thing for Pezzin though was that he had the best hand, dominating Glantz's pocket twos with pocket fours. Unfortunately for Pezzin, the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Glantz shot to the lead. Neither player held a diamond in their hand.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and then the river paired the board with the {5-Diamonds}. Glantz made a full house and collected the bounty of Pezzin, who was sent to the rail, leaving Glantz heads up on the feature table with Scott Seiver. During the break, the feature table was swapped out for another table to give some other players some TV time.

Vazquez Climbing Back Up

Luis Vazquez
Luis Vazquez
Peter Jetten raised his button an made it 2,000 to go. Luis Vazquez was in the small blind and called. Greg Debora called from the big blind as well. All three remaining players at the table saw the flop come down {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. One by one, they all checked.

The turn added the {10-Clubs} to the board. Vazquez was first and fired 3,000. Debora called and Jetten mucked.

The river was the {A-Hearts} and Vazquez went into his stack to grab some chips. He fired out 6,200 and Debora made the call.

Vazquez tabled the {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for trip aces and Debora mucked his hand. Debora dropped to 39,000 while Vazquez moved up to 70,000.
