Keith Crowder Bags Overall Chip Lead After Day 1d of $1,100 Event #2 at the Pennsylvania State Poker Championship

Day 1d at the Pennsylvania State Poker Championship in $1,100 Event #2 has been completed. The final Day 1 flight of the event saw the most entrants yet, with 215, and 27 players bagging up and advancing to Day 2, to join the 36 players who already advanced to the final day. The chip leader after the final flight was Keith Crowder who bagged 1,178,000.

Crowder had a late surge on the final two hands of the night, when he made a tough call on the river after herivered a set of kings, which also brought the front door flush in. Then Crowder won a massive pot on the stone bubble when he woke up with kings again, and Ryan Mostafa four-bet all-in with ace-jack. After Crowder flopped a set, and Mostafa missed his straight draw, Crowder became the overwhelming chip leader and burst the bubble.

Day 2 will have 60-minute levels, starting at wherever the earliest Day 1 flight ended. Players will have a 15-minute break after every two levels of play and will have a dinner break that is TBD.

All the remaining players in the field have made the money, and PokerNews will update on the full prize pool payout, and Day 2 seat draw when available.

Players that have qualified for Day 2 with multiple chip stacks will only be permitted to play their highest qualifying stack. The other stacks will be taken out and removed from play and the player will receive the minimum Day 2 payout for each stack.

The Gold Pass to the NAPT Las Vegas Main Event is in play which will be awarded to the champion of the tournament. The winner will receive travel, hotel accommodations, and the $5,300 buy-in to the tournament this November.

A player in early position opened to 1,600. The button called, Ryan Mostafa called in the small blind but Keith Crowder three-bet to 75,000 from the big blind. The initial raiser folded but Mostafa reraised all in for 530,000. Crowder called, covering Mostafa and needed to dodge an Ace.

The dealer put out K73QJ and Mostafa was eliminated on the bubble, as Crowder took down the over 1,000,000-chip pot.

Crowder Finds a Call in Tough Spot

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Keith Crowder raised to 15,000 from early position, and was called by Bin Weng in middle position, and Kevin Roche in the big blind.

The flop came 2104 and Roche checked to Crowder, who bet 36,000. Weng folded, and Roche made the call.

Roche check-called a bet of 52,000 after the A on the turn.

The river was the K and Roche led out for a bet of 90,000, which sent Crowder into the tank. After about two minutes, Crowder eventually found the call.

Roche tabled A7 for a pair of aces, but Crowder had the winner when he flipped over KK for rivered set of kings to take the pot.

With 28 players remaining, and 27 players making the money and Day 2, the tournament director has announced that the tournament will go to hand for hand play.

McNicholas Makes a Tough Call

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Michael McNicholas raised to 12,000 from middle position, and when it folded to the small blind, he three-bet to 28,000. The big blind folded, and McNicholas made the call to see a flop.

The flop came 53Q and both players checked to the 6 on the turn. The small blind then bet 35,000, which was called by McNicholas.

The river was the J and the small blind went all in for 113,000. McNicholas was in the tank for almost two minutes, before finding the call.

The small blind said "Good call" as he tabled AK for just ace high. McNicholas then showed AQ for top pair top kicker, to take the pot and eliminate the small blind.

Azzaro Takes From Renshaw

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Michael Azzaro opened to 12,000 from the button. John Renshaw defended his big blind.

Both players checked the QJ3 flop before Renshaw fired 25,000 on the Q turn. Azzaro called.

Renshaw checked the J river over to Azzaro who bet 55,000. Renshaw called but came up short against Azzaro's AQ.
