After the confetti had rained down, the trophy had been raised, and the lights had gone off at the second edition of the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Las Vegas $5,300 Main Event, Nick Marchington had one reaction to what his run was like: it felt like a dream.
The 26-year-old UK pro started the final table as a massive chip leader and never lost it, putting on one of the most dominant final table performances in recent memory on his way to being crowned NAPT champion and taking home the $765,200 top prize.
“It really was a dream. It’s one of the most fun experiences I’ve had playing poker,” Marchington said after clinching the title. “Obviously, everyone loves to come in being the chip leader, and I was very lucky to be able to maintain the chip lead and not even come close to losing it for pretty much the whole final table.”

The under-the-gun player raised to 2,500, Graeme Newman three-bet to 7,500 in the cutoff, and Ankit Ahuja cold four-bet to 15,000 on the button. Under the gun got out of the way and Newman called.
The flop came 6♥5♠5♦ and Newman check-called a bet of 11,000 from Ahuja. The turn fell the 8♣ and Newman check-called again, this time for 20,000.
On the 3♦ river, Newman checked for a third time and Ahuja moved all in for 57,500 to put himself at risk. Clearly faced with a tough decision, Newman went into the tank.
"Show me the bluff," said Newman as he tossed his cards into the muck.
Ahuja responded with a smirk.
"That's a smile that says bluff," muttered Newman.
Dan Smith raised to 2,700 under the gun and was called by Daniel Marcus in the hijack and the player in the small blind.
The flop came Q♦3♣7♦ and it checked to Smith who bet 2,500. Only Marcus continued to the K♠ turn.
Smith fired out a bet of 6,500 and Marcus thought for a moment before throwing his cards into the muck.
Bin Weng opened in middle position and David Dibemardi called in the hijack.
Weng continued for 2,300 on the flop of 7♦9♥J♥ and Dibemardi called. Weng then bet 8,700 on the 5♣ turn and Dibemardi folded.
Seth Davies raised to 2,400 on the button and Tirza Sanders defended in the big blind.
The flop of 9♦7♥5♣ went check-check, bringing the 6♥ turn where Sanders led out for 2,500. Davies made the call.
On the Xx river, Sanders moved all in for about 10,800 to put herself at risk and Davies quickly called.
Sanders turned over K♠9♥ while Davies tabled A♠8♠ for the straight.
