Defending Champ Nick Marchington Among 226 Returning For Day 2 of the NAPT Main Event

Nick Marchington
Nick Marchington

A year ago, Nick Marchington went on one of the most dominant runs in recent memory on his way to claiming the PokerStars North American Poker Tour (NAPT) Las Vegas Main Event title. Fast forward 12 months, and the UK pro is back at it and among 226 players returning to Resorts World for Day 2 at noon local time.

Marchington takes 96,000 into the day, but he and the rest of the field are looking up at chip leader Shannon Shorr’s massive stack of 395,000. Diane Zimmerman (353,500), Abdullah Akbarpoor (286,000), Michael Berk (273,000), and Bin Weng (246,000) round out the top five.

Further down the leaderboard are Jeremy Ausmus (113,500), Chris Hunichen (110,500), Team PokerStars Pro Jen Shahade (108,500), Stephen Song (108,500), Jesse Lonis (88,000), and Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel (81,000).

Shorter stacks include Dan Smith (70,500), Faraz Jaka (70,500), Joey Weissman (40,500), Chris Moorman (40,000), Kenny Hallaert (37,500), and Kristen Foxen (25,500).

A total of 691 players entered over three starting flights. Late registration remains open until the start of play, so there is a possibility the field can grow much larger by the time the official prize pool is announced. The action picks up on Level 11 with blinds of 1,000/1,500 with a 1,500 big blind ante. The schedule calls for five 90-minute levels to be played today.

There is a chance the money bubble can be reached by the end of the day, and that will be the goal of every returning player today. PokerNews will be following all the action, so stay tuned for updates from the NAPT Main Event.
