Dalal-In

Chris Klodnicki surveys Suraj Dalal's winning straight
Chris Klodnicki surveys Suraj Dalal's winning straight

Moments after Daniel Wach assumed the chip lead, a huge hand took place between Suraj Dalal and Chris Klodnicki that saw Dalal surge into first position.

We arrived following the river, after an "all in" and "call" had been announced. The board showed {2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}, and Dalal was tabling his hand — {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a flopped wheel. A somewhat dismayed Klodnicki shook his head and mucked, then told his opponent "nice hand" as the 100,000-plus chip pot was pushed Dalal's way.

"As long as the board didn't pair," said Dalal, to which Scott Baumstein asked "He could have a boat but not a flush there?" Dalal didn't respond.

Wach On Top

Daniel Wach
Daniel Wach

Daniel Wach is sitting on a stack of about 120,000 after eliminating Carlos Chadha-Villamarin.

We picked up the action on the turn of a {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{J-Clubs} board and healthy amount in the middle. Action was on Chadha-Villamarin, facing what looked to be a bet of 11,000 from Wach. A call from Chadha-Villamarin landed the {7-Hearts} river where Wach bet about 35,000, covering his opponent's stack.

After about 15 seconds, Chadha-Villamarin called all in for about 20,000. Wach tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, besting Chadha-Villamarin's holdings to win the pot.

I See Your Bet

David Hill
David Hill

Following a raise then a three-bet from the blinds, a series of overcalls saw five players still around to see a {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} flop. It checked to Artur Kos who fired 2,500 into the pot of about 8,000, and only David Hill chose to stick around.

The turn brought the {3-Spades}, and as Kos considered what to do, Hill lifted a pair of black pipe-cleaner glasses through which to view his opponent. Kos finally checked, and Hill checked behind. Both then checked the {2-Clubs} river as well.

"Show me a winner," Hill said, still peering through his makeshift specs, and when Kos turned over {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Hill tapped the table and mucked his hand.

Paredes Felts Two

Walter Beck
Walter Beck

We just saw a big three-way all-in occur over on Table 32 involving Walter Beck, David Paredes, and Charles Furey.

With the board showing {J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, it checked to Beck who bet, then Paredes raised to 1,225. Furey responded with a reraise all in for 11,525 total, then Beck reraised all in himself for 12,275. Paredes took a moment to think about the situation, then put in the necessary chips to call.

Furey: {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Paredes: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Beck: {J-Spades}{8-Spades}

Top pair for both Furey and Beck (with Furey's kicker best), while Paredes had a couple of overs and the nut flush draw. The turn brought the {K-Clubs} to give Paredes the better pair, and after the {6-Spades} river he'd won the pot and felted two players.

Klodnicki Doubles Through Dawson

Chris Klodnicki
Chris Klodnicki

Picking up the action on an {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop with four players in the pot, there were two checks to Chris Klodnicki who bet 2,000. David Dawson called, leading to folds from Scott Baumstein and another player.

The {3-Hearts} fell on the turn and Klodnicki bet 4,500, but found himself faced with a decision when Dawson raised all in with a covering stack. Klodnicki gave it some thought, but tossed in his 22,625 and tabled {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Dawson was caught making a move with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and found no help from the {4-Clubs} river, locking up the pot for Klodnicki.

Deshpande Big Blind-Sided

Preflop action at Table 32 had seen the usual preflop formalities as the action proceeded around the table, with a raise from late position standing out. That's when both players in the blinds — Pradeep Deshpande (SB) and Christopher Lovett (BB) — woke up with hands. First Deshpande went all in, then Lovett followed suit, chasing the rest.

Lovett immediately tabled {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and Deshpande winced at the sight of his opponent's hand as he turned over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. The board rolled out {7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}, and Desphande was felted, although he is buying back right away.
