Melancon Calls With King-Jack

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

A player went all in from the cutoff for around 20,000 and Jay Melancon called from the small blind.

All-In Player: {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Jay Melancon: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}

"Nice call," said another player at the table after seeing Melancon's king-jack had his opponent dominated and at risk for the player's tournament life. Melancon stayed on top as the board ran out {a-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts}, giving him Broadway to secure the knockout and the pot.

Curti Gets a Knockout

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

A player raised to 6,000 from under the gun and was three-bet by the hijack to 15,000. The player on the button cold-called, as did Aaron Curti out of the big blind. The original opener called as well to take action four ways to the streets.

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Curti, first to act, reached for chips. He took T5,000 chips, two by two, and put them into a stack that was ten chips tall. He then looked at the chips, considering a bet, before putting them into the middle. The under-the-gun player folded and then the three-bettor from the hijack asked for confirmation of the amount.

"Fifty thousand," said the dealer. The player responded by committing all of his chips, which looked to be close to 50,000. The dealer threw the all-in button out and announced that the player was all in. The player on the button folded and regardless of stacks, Curti announced that he called.

Hijack: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Aaron Curti: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}

The hijack got his chips in after flopping top pair, top kicker, only to run into Curti's top two pair. He would need to hit running Broadway cards or find a miracle ace to stay alive and would be unable to do so as the turn came {4-Spades} with the river {k-Clubs} falling behind it to complete the runout.

The dealer announced that jacks up were the best hand and reached over to take the hijack's stack from the seven-seat and send it to Curti, who was on the other side of the table patiently awaiting his newly-earned chips from the two-seat.

Petronack Spotted With 200K; Taleb Dusted

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Jeff Petronack had a bet of 25,000 out on a board of {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts} from the cutoff into a pot of 48,000. His opponent had checked to him from the big blind and was in the tank. Eventually, he said he would fold a ten and let his hand go from his position in the nine-seat to the dealer on his immediate left.

Petronack said that he triple-barreled with a smile on his face as he stacked his newly-acquired chips, bringing his stack to an even 200,000.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Taleb was eliminated from an adjacent table. He was seen exiting the tournament area as Gary Loeffler was in the process of stacking chips that were presumably once Taleb's.

Baer Over Six Figures With River Call

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

There was around 16,500 in the middle on a board of {7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and the player in the big blind had a bet of 11,500 out in front of him. Action was on Zeph Baer, who was in early position. He thought for close to a minute before coming to a decision. He picked up chips and threw them in the middle to call.

The bettor lifted his cards so that they stood on their sides in a manner that only he could see, hesitating to fully table them. Baer then turned over {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for nothing more than a pair of fours. It proved to be good as his opponent put his cards back onto the felt face-down and sent them to the muck, resulting in the pot being sent Baer's way.

Alsup Gets an Elimination

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The player on Rich Alsup's left was all in and had received action from Alsup with all the chips going into the middle before the flop.

All-In Player: {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Rich Alsup: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The dealer quickly ran the board out {6-Spades}{k-Hearts}{2-}{3-}{q-}. Immediately after he set the queen on the felt for the river he picked it up and scooped up the rest of the community, quickly mucking it before sending the recently-eliminated player's chips Alsup's way.

Rich Alsup had a hand of {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} still tabled on a board reading {9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and the dealer was in the process of counting out his stack. Alsup was in middle position and had gotten stacks in on what appeared to be the flop, as there was about 15,000 in the middle already.

Alsup's stack was counted out to be 67,000 and his opponent paid him off, bringing him to his his current total of just shy of 150,000.
