Heller Eliminated by Kenney

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

There was around 5,000 in the pot with three-way action on the turn with a board of {3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Barbara Blechinger was first to act and bet 2,500 out of the small blind. Nathan Heller then shoved all in over the top for 5,600 from early position to put action onto Nathan Heller, who was on the button.

Heller confirmed the amount and then took about 20 seconds to announce a call. Blechinger quickly sent her cards to the muck.

Nathan Heller: {k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Pat Kenney: {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Heller's turned kings up were no match for Kenney's flopped trips and the river {8-Diamonds} did not give him the help he needed to stay alive as the pot was sent Kenney's way. Meanwhile, Heller made a short departure from the tournament area and was seen moments later back at the podium drawing for a new seat after having reentered.

Asche Hits a One Outer

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Greg Asche had opened from middle position and saw Steve Wazwaz go all in for his last 2,500 from the button. The big blind cold-called to put action back onto Asche, who announced he was all in. The big blind folded.

Steve Wazwaz: {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Greg Asche: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Wazwaz was upset to see he was up against queens until the flop came {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, leaving Asche to do nothing but shrug. The turn then fell {q-Clubs} to put Asche back out in front and leave Wazwaz drawing dead as the river fell {9-Spades} to complete the runout.

"One outer," said another player at the table, saying he folded a queen as the pot was sent Asche's way.

Matakis Barrels Twice

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

There was around 2,000 in the pot on a flop of {7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} with Ian Matakis having thrown out a bet of 700 from early position. Action was on the player on the button and he tossed in chips to call.

The turn came {7-Diamonds} and Matakis threw out another bet, announcing 2,200 as he did. His opponent thought for a few moments and then sent his cards to the muck.

Perpich Wins on Turn

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

A player in middle position opened the action with a raise to 500 and was called by Vic Peppe, who was in the hijack. Bill Perpich was in the cutoff and three-bet to 1,700. The big blind cold-called and both the original raiser and Peppe came along as well to take action four ways to the streets.

The dealer fanned a flop of {k-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts} and action checked to Perpich, who put out a bet of 3,100. The big blind called, the original raiser folded, and Peppe called.

Action was then three ways as the turn came {a-Clubs} and action checked to Perpich once more. He threw out a bet of 5,500 and both the big blind and Peppe quickly folded, earning him the pot.

Valder Cooked

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

There was 2,700 in the middle on a flop of {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} and action was on Rich Stevens, who was in the cutoff and had a bet of 1,200 out in front of him. He was facing an all-in check-raise by Ben Valder, who was in the big blind. Stevens asked how much the bet was and the dealer counted out Valder's stack to be 5,400. Stevens threw in chips to call.

Ben Valder: {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Rich Stevens: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

Valder was in need of hitting a ten, a deuce, or a running pair that was higher than fives to stay alive in the tournament. The turn came {a-Hearts} to give him three more outs at a counterfeited double. Unfortunately for him, the river {5-Clubs} fell in Stevens' favor, giving him an unnecessary full house.

"Now you're showing off," Valder said with a smile as he got up from the table and made his way from the tournament area.

Petersen Gets River Value; Field Up to 127

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Alex Petersen
Alex Petersen

There was around 6,000 in the middle on the river with a board of {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and three players with cards in front of themselves. Action checked to Alex Petersen, who was on the button and threw out a bet of 3,300. The small blind was next to act and thought for close to a minute before letting his hand go to put action onto the final player in the hand, who was in early position.

"Thirty-three?" asked the player. Petersen nodded. Moments later, the player threw chips into the middle and Petersen tabled his hand.

"Straight," said the dealer after Petersen turned over {10-Spades}{9-Spades}. The early-position player sent his cards to the muck and Petersen took down the pot.
