Safina Doubles Back Through Schwartz
The flop came down and Safina took the lead.
"Oh my god! The dealer is so sick!" yelled Schwartz when the ace fell on the flop. "That's such bulls***!"
The turn added the and the river the to keep Safina ahead once he flopped the pair of aces and double him up. Safina is back to 226,000 chips now.
Huge Double for Schwartz
After the hit the turn, Schwartz splashed 90,000 chips into the middle. Safina moved all in and Schwartz snapped.
Schwartz began running around the table, bouncing up and down, celebrating at how well he thought he played the hand.
The river was the and didn't give the beat to Schwartz. He doubled up to be second in chips with 804,000 chips. Safina dropped to 123,000.
Vanessa Rousso Eliminated in 5th Place ($8,000)
"Can I hit a set one time?!?" pleaded Rousso.
The flop came down and no set yet for Rousso. The turn was the and then the river was the . Safina took a small hit a little while ago to Schwartz and now got a lot of chips back with a full house, eliminating Rousso in the process.
Rousso finished in fifth place and earned four points along with $8,000. Safina moved up to 583,000 chips.
Schwartz Reads Weakness and Bluffs Safina
The river blanked off and the best hand was left to Safina, who held just a pair of tens. He fired a small bet into the middle, essentially turning his hand into a bluff. Daniel Negreanu was commentating and didn't like the bet from Safina, but he couldn't do anything about it from the commentating room. He claimed that Schwartz was going to read this as weakness and could raise Safina.
After Rousso folded her hand, Schwartz did just that, he raised Safina for about 120,000 more than Safina's bet. Safina went into the tank and little did he know he held the best hand over Schwartz's jack high and busted straight draw. Safina tanked for several minutes and it looked like he just might have it in him to make the call. This wouldn't be the first time Schwartz bluffed Safina and that had to be weighing on the PartyPoker qualifier's mind.
After those several minute sin the tank, Safina slid his hand into the muck and Schwartz got away with one. He stood from his chair and slammed over his two cards to show the total bluff.
"That's what I'm talking about!" he yelled out. "That's what I'm talking about!"
This was a very pivotal pot in the tournament, as Safina had been besting Schwartz in a few hands where the two clashed previously. Finally though, Schwartz was able to get one back in one of the most keys pots of this heat with a great read.
Tony G Eliminated in 6th Place ($6,000)
The flop was a huge one: . Benyamine flopped the joint and Tony G flopped top and bottom pair. Schwartz flopped a nice straight draw. Benyamine was first and checked. Tony G fired 30,000 with his two pair and then Schwartz called, looking to hit his open-ender. Benyamine raised to 105,000 and then immediately Tony G moved all in for a little over 400,000. Schwartz folded and Benyamine insta-called.
Tony G saw the bad news and got up from his seat as things weren't looking good for him. He was unable to fill up on the turn or river after the and fell in order.
Benyamine scooped the huge pot and shot up to over one million chips. Tony G exited to the rail, earning only three points in his second heat and taking home $6,000. He now has only five points overall and not off to a good start here at the PartyPoker Premier League IV.
