Ruijs to 300k, Boeken Enters A Fourth (or Fifth) Time

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

In one of the last hands before late reg closed, Noah Boeken three-bet shoved {a-}{j-} against Joris Ruijs, who called with {k-}{k-}. The board ran out {q-}{j-}{6-}{7-}{k-} and Boeken was off to the reentry desk for "my fifth bullet... I think... or the fourth."

Hannemann on a Heater

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Marvin Hannemann
Marvin Hannemann

In the span of just five minutes, Marvin Hannemann, who had reentered at the start of the day, spun up his stack up to one of the biggest stacks in the room. First, Hannemann took nearly all of Boeken's chips when his pocket jacks remained best on a low board.

Shortly after, he scooped up a sizable pot with {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} against {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} on a {9-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs} board, where a short-stacked third player was also all in with an unknown holding. The money went in on the flop and Hannemann celebrated loudly after the flush hit the turn.

Paolo Bortolon, who held the nines, played about 90,000 and had to fork all of those over to Hannemann.

Sboev Doubles Against Tamasauskas

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Lithuania's [Removed:174] has had a good start to the day. This doesn't mean he has won every hand.

In a recent hand, Tamasauskas opened before Evgeniy Sboev shoved for over 20 big blinds. Tamasauskas called and the race was on with Lithuanian holding {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} against Sboev's {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

Tamasauskas held an advantage in the hand after the {j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop. However, the {10-Diamonds} came on the turn to give Sboev and unbeatable nut-straight.

The inconsequential {6-Diamonds} came on the river to make the hand official and Tamasauskas took a small dent in his stack while doubling up his opponent.

"Can't Make That Sh*t Up, Bro"

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

With a full board of {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{a-Spades} out there, Henri Schalin checked from the blinds to Chino Rheem in middle position. The latter fired 11,900, only to be countered with a small check-raise from Schalin to 25,000.

Rheem picked up his {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} high enough for several neighbors to see the hand already.

"Ace-jack? Ace-jack no good man. A flush is good, you win with a flush," Rheem perfectly asssesed the situation.

He unhappily flicked in the extra chips a short while later and got shown the bad news by Schalin, who opened up {7-Spades}{3-Spades} for a hidden bottom-pair-turned-backdoor-flush.

Rheem glanced over at the adjacent table, where Noah Boeken was sitting.

"Flop top set, lose against bottom pair. Can't make that sh*t up, bro," he said to his friend.

Solid Start for Alakorva

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Veli-Pekka Alakorva
Veli-Pekka Alakorva

Veli-Pekka Alakorva was just screaming in joy after winning a flip and has building his stack up nicely to start Day 2.

In a recent hand, a player raised to 8,000 over a bunch of limpers before Bahadir Hatipoglu jammed for 28,000. Alakorva called and was cheering himself on.

Bahadir Hatipagulu: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Veli-Pekka Alakorva: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

The {2-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} board ran out in Alakorva's favor. It is unknown at this point whether Hatipaglu, who re-entered a handful of times yesterday, will get back in action.

Berge Felts Turtia with Aces Against Kings

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Saku Turtia was one of today's late entries and is just out on a cooler. He got it in for 30 big blinds after back and forth raising against Martin Berge. After all the chips were in the middle Turtia folded over poker's second strongest starting hand with {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} only to be up against poker's strongest starting hand of {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} turned over by Berge.

The {3-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades} board was unable to save Turtia and he left the poker room after his big cooler. He still has 24 minutes left in the blind level plus a 15-minute break to decide to re-enter the tournament.
