Darren Elias is Making a Comeback

Level 14 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante
Darren Elias
Darren Elias

After taking a hard hit earlier in the day, Darren Elias is building up his chip stack again. Elias raised to 90,000 from under the gun and got a call from Thomas Penza in early position. Everyone else folded and the dealer spread the flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Elias bet 100,000 and Penza called.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and both players checked. On the {7-Clubs} river, Elias moved forward 370,000 and Penza took no time calling. Elias showed {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for bottom set and Penza flashed an {A-Diamonds} before tossing his cards into the muck.

There are a lot of chips being passed around this table with no shortage of action and many big stacks to be aware of. Here is a look at some of the chip stacks on Table 27.

Cate Hall is Building

Level 14 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante
Dzmitry Urbanovich - Cate Hall
Dzmitry Urbanovich - Cate Hall

Cate Hall made a deep run in the High Roller a couple of days ago, finishing in 11th place, just a couple of spots from the final table. She looks for redemption here in the $5,300 Main Event, and has chipped up a little and held her own since the day started.

In a recent hand, Hall called an all in before the flop and she held the best of it with {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Her opponent tabled {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for about 700,000 chips, and had a slim chance of winning the hand when the flop came {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}, giving Hall a set of nines. Hall's opponent was drawing dead when the {5-Spades} hit the turn, and the insignificant {6-Diamonds} hit the river.

Hall has now run her stack up to five million chips as the dinner break approaches.

Harpreet Gill Smashes the One-Outer on the River!

Level 14 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

There was some commotion over on Table 59, and a few people even had their phones out to take photos. Harpreet Gill was on his feet after being all in for his las 1,138,000 before the flop against Michel-Claude Baroud, who had him covered.

Gill held {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} while Baroud tabled a dominating {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

The board leading up to the turn read {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The turn gave Baroud a bigger flush than Gill, but Gill picked up a straight flush draw. The {4-Clubs} came down on the river, and Gill's tournament life was saved by the only card in the deck that could help him.

Joseph Sicko is Making Noise

Level 13 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante

Joseph Sicko has been quietly going about his business, but his chip stack is starting to make some noise! In a recent hand, Sicko was heads-up on the flop with Andreas Olympios in a pot of 210,000. The board was {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

The {A-Diamonds} came on the turn and Sicko checked. Olympios made a bet of 200,000 only to have Sicko raise to 600,000. Olympios called.

When the river came a {9-Spades}, Sicko bet 500,000 and Olympios made the call again. Sicko rolled over {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for top two pair, which was good enough to send a nice sized pot his way.

Dilovan Hussein First Player to Reach Ten Million Chips

Level 13 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante
Dilovan Hussein
Dilovan Hussein

Dilovan (George) Hussein, from Edmonton, Alberta, is the first player to cross the 10,000,000 chip line. Hussein came in to the day as one of the chip leaders and he has carried his momentum over from Day 1a.

Along with his large stack of chips comes a large personality. Hussein is sporting his Edmonton Oilers gear and has not let up on the chatter at the table, saying "If you can't handle the heat, then this isn't the room for you!" Hussein made the final table of the partypoker Grand Prix just last week, finishing in 8th place, and is also coming off a fourth place finish at WPT Fallsview just a few months ago, collecting over $100,000 for his biggest career cash. Look for Hussein to continue to break personal records right here at Playground Poker.
