Filatov Puts Greenwood to the Test

Level 3 : 400/800, 75 ante

Lucas Greenwood made it 2,000 to go from the cutoff, and Anatoly Filatov made the call from the button before Paul Newey and Stephen Chidwick folded from the blinds.

The flop was a trifecta of eights - {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} - and Greenwood fired 2,000. Filatov quickly called.

The turn came {10-Diamonds}, and this time Greenwood bet 5,000. Filatov called again.

The river {5-Spades} made Greenwood fire a fourth bullet of 13,000. Filatov went into the tank but eventually fired back with a raise to 40,000 - almost half of his remaining chips. Greenwood seemed somewhat surprised, but reluctantly let go of his hand in the end.

Kisacikoglu Busts McCuaig

Level 3 : 400/800, 75 ante
Orpen Kisacikoglu
Orpen Kisacikoglu

Picking up the action on the three-way turn of {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, Orpen Kisacikoglu bet 17,000 and Charlie Carrel folded. Callum McCuaig moved all in for around 35,000 and Kisacikoglu didn't even ask for a count, but snap-called and tabled {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} for trips queens.

McCuaig had the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and the {4-Spades} river was a blank to eliminate McCuaig. [Removed:17] was eliminated just prior to that as well, but opted to fire his single re-entry for today to get back in.

Farrell Steals One

Level 3 : 400/800, 75 ante

We joined the action between two of Scotland's finest poker exports on the flop of {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} as Fraser MacIntyre was betting 9,500 into a pot of around 12,000. Farrell called to a turn of {K-Spades} which both players checked.

On the {8-Hearts} river, Farrell, sat in the big blind, changed betting direction and 13,500 and that led to a fold from MacIntyre.

"Just thieving from me."

"I wasn't thieving." said Farrell with a smile as wide as the cardroom here at Dusk Till Dawn. He moves into the upper limits of the leaderboard, while MacIntyre drops below starting stack for the first time since he sat down. There are no friends in poker.

Simao Folds to Radomski

Level 3 : 400/800, 75 ante

Only a few minutes earlier, partypoker pro Joao Simao had raised to 6,000 and then folded to a squeeze to 16,000 by Marius Torbergsen. Simao got involved into another bigger hand soon after, with the flop showing {J-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}, when the Brazilian bet 5,600 out of the big blind. Karol Radomski raised to 13,100 and Simao called.

On the {6-Clubs} turn, Simao checked and Radomski fired another 14,100, which was called by the partypoker pro. After the {2-Hearts} river, both players checked and Radomski's {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for top pair and top kicker won the pot. The same table also features Roberto Romanello now as well.

Top Set Holds Up for Ema Zajmovic

Level 3 : 400/800, 75 ante
Ema Zajmovic
Ema Zajmovic

David Peters just hit the rail after getting into the biggest post of the tournament so far with Canadian Ema Zajmovic.

Zajmovic opened up the action from first position, and both Lander Lijo in the hijack and David Peters in the big blind made the call.

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{J-Spades}{2-Spades}, and after Peters checked his option, Zajmovic made it 4,000 to go. Lijo quickly got out of the way and Peters made the call.

The {9-Hearts} on the turn prompted another check from Peters and another bet from Zajmovic - this time for 9,800. Peters mulled about his decision for a few moments, before cutting out a raise to a total of 27,600. Zajmovic announced all-in, and Peters committed his stack of 85,475.

Ema Zajmovic: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
David Peters: {K-Spades}{10-Spades}

Zajmovic needed to dodge the straight and flush draw of David Peters, but the {3-Diamonds} on the river completed nothing and Zajmovic dragged the pot. David Peters made it straight to the cashier, reentered and have now been reseated at another table with a fresh stack of 100,00.

Three Germans Walk Into a High Roller Event ...

Level 3 : 400/800, 75 ante

... and end up on the same table. This applies for Stefan Schillhabel, Rainer Kempe and Claas Segebrecht, who all share one of the latest tables that opened. Thomas Muehloecker also joined them soon after Segebrecht took down a small pot against Kempe.

On the {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} turn, Kempe checked out of the big blind and so did Segebrecht on the button. The {8-Clubs} river saw Kempe check and Segebrecht bet 3,800 into 6,000 in order to force a fold from his fellow countryman.

Newey Flushes Chidwick

Level 3 : 400/800, 75 ante
Dusk Till Dawn Nottingham
Dusk Till Dawn Nottingham

Paul Newey bet 20,000 on the river of a board showing {6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and after deliberating for some time, his heads-up opponent in the hand, Stephen Chidwick made the call.

Newy showed {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the rivered flush and swept the pot, leaping above average and sending Chidwick down in the counts with 66,300. that still equates to over 80 big blinds at this early stage, however, so Chidwick won't be panicking.

Both Chidwick (2nd) and Newey (9th) are two of England's most successful live tournament players in history with $7.3m and $4.5m in live earnings respectively. Who will add to their record of cashes in this tournament? We'll find out tomorrow in this two-day event.

Schwippert Doubles Through Lee

Level 2 : 300/600, 50 ante

Hon Cheong Lee raised to 1,500 from under the gun and Keith Johnson called on the button, as did Jan-Eric Schwippert in the big blind. On the {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, the action checked to Lee who continued for 3,000. Johnson folded, but Schwippert then check-raised to 11,000 which Lee called.

After the {9-Hearts} turn, Schwippert bet 18,000 and Lee eventually moved in with the German quickly calling it off with the inferior stack.

Jan-Eric Schwippert: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}
Hon Cheong Lee: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

The {K-Hearts} on the river was a blank and Schwippert doubled for 79,575, leaving Lee short.

Chi Zhang Scores the Double

Level 2 : 300/600, 50 ante

We joined the action on a {3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} board where Ludovic Geilich came out firing for 12,500 into the pot of 17,000, Chi Zhang moved in for 51,450, which sent the German deep into the tank.

Geilich agonized for a couple of minutes, scratched his head and ultimately committed the chips. Zhang turned over {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for the nut flush, and even though Geilich's {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} was turned over, it eventually hit the muck.

Zhang is back up above starting stack, while Geilich is left with 54,000.
