Alan Campbell bagged chips in Day 1a but shared as Day 1b was starting he wanted a bigger stack to start Day 2 with. It looks like Campbell might get his wish after he just won a huge hand involving Bob Tait and David Brady.
Tait opened to 2,000 and got calls from Brady and Campbell. Tait fired out a bet of 6,000 on the flop and got calls from both of his opponents.
Tait then fired out again, this time for 15,000 after the appeared on the turn and once again got calls from both of his opponents.
Tait then jammed the rest of his chips all-in after a appeared on the river. Brady, who was covered, called and was also all in. Campbell also called and took down a huge pot with top pair holding . Tait showed while Brady showed .
Bob Tait opened from early position to 3,100 and got a call from Sean O'Riordan in the big blind.
After the dealer dealt the flop , he asked Tait to reorganize his chips to move the biggest ones up front after the hand was through. He then moved a stack of 20 yellow 1,000-denomination chips to the front of his pile and a handful of purple chips on top. The dealer said he also had to move his stack of 500-denomination chips up front.
Tait instead moved a stack of 20 yellow chips into the middle for a bet of 20,000 and asked, "Is that OK?"
O'Riordan didn't waste much time and said he was all-in for 28,400 in chips.
Tait said, "Looks like I have no choice but to call."
After Tait called, O'Riordan turned over for top pair which was ahead of the held by Tait. The on the turn and the on the river didn't improve Tait's hand and O'Riordan doubled up.
The Gleneagle Hotel is packed with people. Outside of the poker area, there is a ballroom and multiple bars.
Some poker players are enjoying some live music in one of the bars while they are on break while others that already qualified to Day 2 are enjoying the surrounding atmosphere at the hotel and in town.
With already about 12,000 in the pot, Dave Pollock bet 4,500 on a flop.
Mark Rice then jammed for 65,400. Pollock tanked and the two players chatted a bit back and forth. Pollock shared he had a tough decision to make with pocket queens. Rice implied he wanted a call.
Pollock tanked for about five minutes before he folded while Rice tossed his hand into the muck.
Rice then said after the hand, "I can't believe you folded queens."
Pollock asked if he would have won the hand and Rice said, "No, I wanted a call."
Gavin Carroll limped from under the gun and five other players got to see a flop too, including Stephen Meehan from middle position and Vytautas Zvirblis from the big blind.
The action was checked to Carroll on the flop who fired out a bet of 1,800. It got called by the player in the small blind and Zvirblis.
After the appeared on the turn, the blinds checked and Carroll bet 3,300. The player in the small blind folded while Zvirblis called.
The completed the board on the river at which point Zvirblis moved all in. Carroll called and Zvirblis turned over for top pair, which was good enough to beat the held by Carroll.
