Stephen Meehan Battling Damien Hogan

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Damien Hogan Wins This Round
Damien Hogan Wins This Round

Stephen Meehan seems to be the joker at the table with a constant stream of chat and good humour. He is also driving the action. Damien Hogan is sat to his left and seems to be mixing it up, getting involved in a number of pots in position.

Meehan opened the action from late position for 375 with Hogan and the big blind calling to see a flop of {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

Meehan continued for 1,200 and got one caller in Hogan.

“Ace-nine is no good,” Meehan warned him.

The turn card was the {2-Diamonds} and Meehan check-called a 2,100 bet from Hogan.

The river was the {4-Hearts} and a last check from Meehan saw Hogan bet 3,000. A bit of chat from Meehan prompted Hogan to ask the dealer if he could show one card, which was met with a firm "no."

Meehan folded and showed his {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Hogan gave him a courtesy show of his {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}.

The Masters Poker-Playing Family is Back

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Tanya Masters
Tanya Masters

Yesterday, Raymond Masters and his son Graham Masters were at the same table for a period of time. Graham ended the day yesterday bagging around an average chip stack, while Raymond was unable to get things going on two bullets.

Raymond is back in action today along with his daughter Tanya Masters. Raymond's other son Dave is not yet playing but is expected to late-register in today's Day 1b field as well.

The Masters family made waves during last year's partypoker Irish Festival - GPPT & WPT National €1,100 Main Event. Raymond Masters finished in third place for €27,500 while Dave Masters snagged fifth place for €15,000. Time will tell if the family is as successful or more so in this year's partypoker Grand Prix Killarney Main Event.

Tait Folds River

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Three players went to a flop of {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades} and it was checked to the raiser Sean O’Riordan who bet 350.

Small blind Bob Tait sprang the check-raise to 800 and with the big blind folding, O’Riordan made the call.

Heads up to the turn card {4-Diamonds} they both checked to see the {a-Clubs} complete the board.

Tait reached for chips but changed his mind. It was O’Riordan who put the chips in and the price was 1,600.

“You get lucky on the river?” Tait wanted to know.

“Yeah,” O’Riordan replied.

Tait showed the {8-Clubs} and mucked.

O’Riordan showed the {2-Spades} and then revealed his {a-Spades} catch.

Ali Zihni Chops It Up

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Ali Zihni is a mainstay of the UK and Ireland poker scene with recorded tournament cashes going back to 2010. His enthusiasm and passion for the game remains undimmed as he is here bright and early for Day 1b.

An early pot saw Zihni on the button get to the river of a board reading {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} against a player in the small blind.

Zihni faced a bet of 3,000 which he called.

His opponent showed {a-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Zihni tabled {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

Chop it up.
