The King's Big Bang recently kicked off. The tournament offers a lofty €50,000 guaranteed prize pool for a €110 entry. Currently, there are 168 players in the field of that tournament with late registration open until the end of Level 11. Players can also re-enter up to two times during this period.
The High Roller is getting closer to the money with 20 players left in that event and 10 getting paid at least €4,000. The top prize in that tournament is €60,000. Partypoker Ambassador Anatoly Filatov entered the second and final day in the chip lead and is still king of the hill in that tournament seven hours later. You can check out our coverage here of the High Roller.
As we reported earlier, partypoker Ambassador Natalia Breviglieri was excited about winning the Charity Event and was a bit emotional about her win meaning that the Lindsey Lodge Hospice will receive a healthy donation of €10,000.
Breviglieri shared with us that she wanted to enjoy the moment while emotions were running high, but still planned on getting into the Day 1e field of the Main Event. She kept her promise and is one of the latest players to enter today's field.
Among the players to double their opening stack is Slovakia's Andrej Desset with around 240,000 in chips. A good part of his stack came in a hand where he held ace-king. He chipped up in a big way after he was able to get his opponent who was holding pocket tens to get all his chips in the middle on an ace-high board.
Desset was relatively unheard of until a couple of months ago. In early April he shipped the partypoker Grand Prix Vienna Main Event for €92,530. As if that wasn't enough, a couple of weeks later he took down the partypoker Grand Prix Germany Main Event here at King's Casino for a cool €100,000.
The Day 1e field has grown to 121 entrants with 110 players still in their seats. The average stack of the players in the field is very deep with 110 big blinds.
Philipp Gruissem is well-known for his tournament play with almost $11 million in live tournament cashes according to The Hendon Mob. He was unable to add to this total in the High Roller, which he was eliminated from before the last break. He is expected to join the €1 million guaranteed partypoker LIVE MILLION €1,100 Main Event, but we will have to wait and see which day he will join the field on.
The poker pro is also known to be a fierce competitor in cash games as well and is now playing for huge money in a televised €100/€100 no-limit hold'em match on the PokerRoomKings Twitch Channel. You can watch him and others compete by clicking on the Live Streaming tab in our coverage.
Greece's Greko Gregor, who is using a nickname in the tournament, just won a big pot without seeing a flop. He opened open for 2,000 before an opponent three-bet to 5,500 and Miroslav Forman four-bet raised to 13,200. Greko Gregor then five-bet all-in and all the other players quickly folded in succession to grow his stack up to 140,000.
France's Nicolas Le Floch is now among the Day 1e chip leaders with a stack of 260,000 chips. Most of his success came on a hand where he eliminated Czech Republic's Petr Susen.
After Susen defended the big blind he check-raised on both the flop and the on the turn. After the completed the board on the river, Susen jammed his remaining stack of 45,000. Le Floch though things over before calling with pocket nines, which was good enough to beat Susen who was holding .
We caught up with Timothy Weltner on break. We asked him if he had any big hands despite his stack being just slightly about the starting stack.
Weltner shared on his very first two hands of the tournament he had pocket kings and pocket aces. While he won both hands, he was disappointed he was unable to capitalize on the two best hand in poker as he only won a few chips in each hand.
He is still fairing better than some with an almost average stack of 110,000.
