Blom's Overbet Pays Off

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

On a board reading {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades} and about 1,800 in the pot, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom bet 1,450 and received a call from his opponent on the button. Both players checked the {Q-Clubs} turn, which was followed by the {Q-Hearts} on the river. Blom lined up some chips and threw out a bet of 7,800, almost twice the size of the pot.

The button didn't seem convinced and counted out a call. He debated a few more seconds before tossing them in the pot. Blom turned over {A-Spades}{K-Spades} for aces and queens with a king kicker. It was good as the button simply mucked. Blom's aggression is working and he is up to 65,000.

Boeree Slides

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

On a board reading {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, PokerStars Team Pro (UK & Ireland) Liv Boeree checked-called a bet of 4,400 from her opponent. When the dealer burned and turned the {J-Diamonds}, Boeree once again checked and her opponent moved all in. Boeree quickly folded and left herself with 16,500.

Aces Are Good for Benyamine

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

David Benyamine was faced with a raise to 500 and three-bet to 1,400. His opponent called.

The flop fell {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Benyamine's opponent checked and he fired 1,000. Benyamine's opponent check-raised to 3,500 and David called.

The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and Benyamine's opponent checked again. Benyamine bet a very healthy 16,000 and his opponent released his hand. Benyamine showed the table {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} before mucking the winner and pulled in the pot to increase his stack to 112,000.

Former French Open Winner in the Field

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

Back at the Latin American Poker Tour Grand Final in Rosario, Argentina, we saw Gustavo Kuerten try his hand at poker. For those who may not be familiar, Kuerten is a retired former World No. 1 tennis player from Brazil. Winner of the French Open three times, between 1997 and 2001, and was the Tennis Masters Cup in 2000, Kuerten seems to be taking his poker seriously after retiring from tennis in May 2008 after 12 years on the international tour. In fact, one could say he swapped one tour for another.

Kuerten, who is seated at the same table as November Niner Matthew Jarvis, hasn't gotten much going yet today. He is holding steady right around the starting stack with 28,000.

Boeree Moves All In

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

On a board reading {Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts}, the big blind bet 4,800 and received a call from the under-the-gun player. Liv Boeree then moved all in from middle position for a total of 15,200.

Action was back on the big blind and he seemed tormented by the decision as cameras flocked to the table. Eventually he moved all in himself for around 23,000 total and the under-the-gun player got out of the way.

Boeree: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Big Blind: {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

Both players had flopped a set but Boeree's was the best hand. She managed to dodge the last deuce when the {J-Spades} was put out on the river. Boeree doubled on the hand and is now up to 45,000.

Katchalov's King High Good Against Rousso

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

Vanessa Rousso has not been able to gain much traction today. Most recently, she saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} with Eugene Katchalow and another opponent. All three checked and when the {J-Diamonds} hit the turn, Rousso bet 1,100. Katchalov was the lone caller, leading to the {3-Clubs} river. Both checked their missed draws, with Rousso showing {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Katchalov tabling a better {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} to win the pot.

Katchalov: Up to about 54,000
Rousso: Slides to roughly 13,500
