Murderers' Row

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Things aren't getting any easier at Table 38 as two new notables have just joined.

We have Cliff Josephy in the one seat, and PokerStars Team Onliner Javier "El_Cañonero" Domínguez Gómez has taken his seat right next door. Around the other side of the table, the last three seats hold Scott Clements, Vanessa Rousso, and now Humberto Brenes in the nine seat.

Nacho Slips

Picking up the action on an {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} board with roughly 6,300 in the middle, Jose "Nacho" Barbero was faced with a bet of 2,200 on the river. He thought it over for about 90 seconds before tossing in the chips to call.

His opponent tabled {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, better than Barbero's holdings, to take down the pot.,

Trips vs. Trips

Five players saw a flop of {8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{7-Spades}, including Barry Greenstein and Rob Van Schaik. Greenstein led for 300, Van Schaik called, and so did a third player. The turn was the {q-Clubs}, Greenstein led again - this time for 1,000 - and only Van Schaik called.

The {9-Hearts} completed the board, and Greenstein fired a third bullet worth 1,500. Van Schaik min-raised to 3,000, and Greenstein immediately called. Van Schaik turned over {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for trip queens, and Greenstein flashed the {q-Spades} before mucking.

Look Out! Veldhuis Binks an Early Double

In early position, Lex Veldhuis raised to 300, and a player a couple seats over three-bet to 800 total. Veldhuis flatted, and off they went.

The dealer spread out {K-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}, and Veldhius check-raised from 950 to 3,000 straight. His opponent raised it right back up to 10,950, and Veldhuis flatted to proceed.

The turn came the {2-Spades}, and Mr. Opponent shoved all in. Veldhuis check-called, showing up {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}. The other player was drawing dead with his {A-} {K-}, and just like that, Veldhuis is up to 60,000.

Tough Tables

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

If you recognize more than one player at your table today, it's probably one of the tougher tables in the room. We've noticed a couple good pairings as we paced through the near half of the room.

Allen Kessler and Juan Manuel Pastor will be fighting for the role of Table Captain at their table on the far end, and the registration sheet tells us that they'll soon be joined by Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. 2011 WSOP Main Event champ Pius Heinz has drawn a table with Felipe Ramos.

We also have two particularly tough tables in the center of the room. One includes Ted Lawson, Amit Makhija, and Marcel Luske. The other one is in contention for early Table of Death, and it features Scott "BigRiskky" Clements, Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy, and Vanessa "LadyMaverick" Rousso.

Team PokerStars Representing

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

There are a plethora of Team PokerStars players scattered around the room, including 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Pius Heinz, 2010 Champion Jonathan Duhamel, and 2009 Champion Joe Cada. We can't forget about Alexander Kravchenko, Marcel Luske, Dario Minieri, Nacho Barbero, Jason Mercier, Lex Veldhuis, Vanessa Selbst, and Boris Becker.
