Chopping Cody Up To Bitz And Pieces

We got to the table to find the new PokerStars Team Pro Jake Cody heads up in a pot with Adam Bitz. The board read {J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and there was well over 90,000 already in the pot. There was a crowd gathering to see how the action played out on the river.

Cody checked to Bitz who fired 41,000 as his final bet. Cody sat pondering for a moment, picked up enough chips to call, and dropped them into the middle of the table. Bitz rolled up {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Cody mucked his cards.

With this hit Cody is now down to about 92,000 while Bitz is sitting on roughly 290,000.

Godoy Gets Another

Josh Prager was all in preflop for what looked like 50,000 or so. Nicolas Godoy was in the tank, and eventually made the call.

Prager: {a-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Godoy: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

The deuces held as the board ran out {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, eliminating Prager. Godoy now has 730,000 chips.

Chris Klodnicki (Day 1b) doubles

Gilbert Diaz and Chris Klodnicki were heads up on a flop of {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Klodnicki checked, Diaz bet what looked like 12,000, and Klodnicki raised to 30,000 on top. Diaz tank-called.

The turn was the {8-Hearts}, and Klodnicki paused for ten seconds or so before moving all in for 47,200. Diaz slowly cut out enough chips to make the call, then committed them.

Klodnicki: {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Diaz: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The river was the {3-Hearts}, and Klodnicki doubled.

Chip Counts

Serock Ends Vaillancourt's Tournament

Noah Vaillancourt opened with a raise to 4,800 from middle position. It folded around to Joe Serock's small blind and he slid out a three-bet to 12,800. Action fell back around to Vaillancourt and he thought for a few seconds before moving all of his chips into the middle. Serock quickly announced a call and the hands were tabled.

Vaillancourt: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Serock: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}

Vaillancourt was in trouble and needed to catch a break on the flop. It looked even more bleak after the dealer spread out {6-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. The {A-Spades} on the turn sealed the deal and the {2-Hearts} completed the board. Vaillancourt made a quick exit from the tournament area while Serock stacked up his chips. He's currently sitting on about 380,000.

Mizrachi Hits 500K, Eliminates Hakim and Bilokur

Picking up the action on an {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop, a flurry of action saw Alex Blokur all in and Jeff Hakim (having committed 45,000 post flop) tanking after Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi moved all in for 166,000. Hakim spent a good while in the tank before he called all in for just less with {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Mizrachi tabled {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} and clinched the pot, scoring the double elimination, when the {6-Clubs} turn gave him the nut flush.

Phelps PCA Run Comes To An End

Michael Phelps
Michael Phelps

The PCA 2013 Main Event has a special feel to it, but that was made all the more special with the participation of the most-decorated Olympian of all time in Michael Phelps. Unfortunately, Phelps just fell at the hands of Eddy Sabat.

According to Sabat, he opened for 4,800 and received a call from Phelps. The rest of the field got out of the way and it was heads-up action to the {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop. Sabat led for 6,200, Phelps called, and then the dealer burned and turned the {6-Clubs}.

This time Sabat checked and Phelps took the opportunity to bet 8,000. Sabat called and the {J-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Surprisingly Sabat moved all in and Phelps called off his stack with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him, Sabat flipped {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for Broadway and Phelps' PCA came to an end.

More for Godoy

After a series of preflop raises, Alexander Scherdin was all in and at risk for nearly 150,000 holding {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Nicolas Godoy had {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}, and the board ran out {5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

The Argentinian padded his already massive stack, and now sits with 680,000 chips.
