Juanda Busts a Second Time

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

The second attempt of John Juanda to run up a stack has not been crowned and he won't be adding a second EPT Main Event title to his poker resume for now.

It started with a raise to 1,800 by Christopher Andler in the cutoff. Juanda three-bet to 5,000 and Carlos Chadha in the small blind moved all in to isolate out of the small blind. Andler folded and Juanda called it off.

John Juanda: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Carlos Chadha: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

The board came {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Juanda was knocked out by his signature hand.

The board came {J-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Hartmann rivered the better hand.

Bosca Jams Into Gomez Zapatero

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

In a battle of two Spaniards, Vicent Bosca moved all in for 45,000 after the {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{k-Spades} river and Javier Gomez Zapatero was sent deep into the think tank. No call followed and both players exchanged a few words in Spanish once the hand was over. The two Spaniards remain above average, and the stack sizes of other notables can be found below.

Game Over for D'Auteuil

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Philippe D'Auteuil and Mike Leah clashed with the latter at risk for 25,600 and {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. His fellow countryman D'Auteuil was ahead preflop with {A-Spades}{J-Spades}, but Leah spiked a queen on the board {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades} to double.

In the next hand, D'Auteuil was all in for 600 chips in the cutoff and Lauren Roberts raised to 1,800 on the button. Christopher Kruk called in the big blind and check-folded the {J-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Spades} flop to a 1,200-bet.

Roberts turned over {A-Hearts}{2-Spades} and D'Auteuil had two live cards with {Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Both the {3-Hearts} turn and {J-Clubs} river were blanks and D'Auteuil busted for a second time on Day 1a, he won't be allowed to re-enter anymore.

Gavin Doubles Through Schein

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Lexy Gavin flopped a straight with {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and got her chips in against the set of nines of Alan Schein, who held {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} on the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop. Neither the {6-Diamonds} turn nor the {7-Diamonds} river changed anything and Gavin doubled.

Pots for Gofman and Heath

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Yang Wang bet the {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} turn for 8,100 out of the small blind and picked up a call by Aleksandr Gofman in the hijack. The {8-Hearts} appeared on the river and Wang slowed down, Gofman bet 13,000 and broke through the resistance of his opponent.

Two tables over, Ben Heath tangled with Lander Lijo and check-called a bet of 10,000 on the {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} turn. Heath checked the {6-Clubs} on the river and Lijo did so with fewer than a pot-sized bet behind. Heath rolled over {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for the nut straight and Lijo mucked.
