Castagnini and Murphy Chip Up

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Marco Weidner increased his stack right away and the PokerStars qualifier is surrounded by two well-known pros in Jason Wheeler and Anton Wigg. The latter called a squeeze to 2,800 by Maximiliano Castagnini and they saw a flop of {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}. Castagnini continued for 1,200 as Wigg folded.

Shortly after, Dean Murphy overbet the {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades} river in a battle of the blinds with Wheeler for 3,500. The American pro reluctantly called and mucked once Murphy showed the {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for trips sevens.

Brewer Busts in First Level

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer

David Bokor raised to 300 first to act before Corel Theuma three-bet to 1,000 from the button. Chris Brewer reraised to 3,500 from the small blind and only Theuma called.

Brewer, who is no longer rocking a mullet hairdo, continued for 1,700 on the {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop and was called.

The turn brought in the {6-Clubs} which prompted Brewer to fire another 5,500. Theuma, who had Brewer covered, slid out his T-5000 chips which was enough to the high roller all-in. Brewer called off his remaining 20,000 chips but didn't seem too pleased about it.

Chris Brewer: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Corel Theuma: {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Brewer's king-high was still ahead but Theuma had a double gutter to the straight as well as a flush draw.

The {3-Clubs} river completed Theuma's flush draw and Brewer headed off to the registration desk.
